2015 GM HD trucks out in early 14?

went and test drove a 2014 dmax.... wow is all I can say. lol think I will be buying one. dealer said they have a 2015 dmax supposed to be coming to them right around the 18th of this month.

gonna be going back in to take a closer look at one and prolly make a deal!

Bought my '13 Duramax in fall of '12. First diesel I've owned, but my dad owned diesels since '84. I doubt I'll ever go back to a gasser, unless some serious changes take place in both motors. It's just hard to explain how much of an afterthought towing is now. And it's not only the power to pull and climb, but the safety in coming back down the mountain as well. The way the duramax and the allison work together, along with the engine brake, it's a thing of art. Rarely do I even need to touch the brakes pulling over 7,000#s and coming down the mountains. There's no value you can put on safety.

Mr. Z.....get off that chebby lot and go look someplace else!

do not, for ONE SECOND, think that you will ever overcome additional cost of the diesel engine. everything costs more on them....initial cost, oil change, fuel filters, any type of service, license, 2 batteries, higher fuel price, and the list goes on. and now days with the emissions equipment.....the egr system has a service interval, the DPF has a life expectancy, ect... for the average guy like you and i.......we get a diesel because we WANT one. so i will repeat this......dont think you will ever come out ahead on the money end of the deal. it costs WAY more to buy, own, and maintain a diesel of any make/model.

how happy are you with the way your 6.0 pulls now? have you pulled anything with their new 3/4 ton gassers with the 6 speed tranny? im not trying to talk you out of it, but explore your options.

if you look at used diesels, i dont know how "new" you want to get, but i would look at one from the pre-emissions years. i know your are stuck on getting a chevy, and i dont know much about their emissions systems from the earlier years. i know ford and dodges were pretty bad from 07-12'ish....piss poor fuel mileage, problems with the egr's. just throwing some things out there to keep in mind.

lol thanks! i will be calling ya in the next couple days, will talk about all this stuff. lol

Is there a reason why GM can't just add even 4 inches to the cab? The "new" cab change adds some legroom, but it still doesn't compare to the Ford or Dodge. I am a Chevy guy at heart that drives a Ford currently because the back seat sucks so bad on Chevy/GMC. I have tried the new half ton and it is better, but still not what my Ford is. I really would like to get back to a Chevy but the way it looks I will still be in a Ford in a couple years when I buy my next truck.

I'm with you on that point. For the most part my 2 young boys ride in the back so its not a huge issue for me. But I was hoping they would stretch it more also.

I have the 14 chev 1500 crew. tow a 4 place with 4 6ft tall guys in the cab. room has not been a problem yet. remember the front has a ton more leg room then the ford does so make sure you look at it with the front seat where you would put it when you drive. im 6ft3 and the front seat isn't anywhere close to as far back as it goes on my chevy, and when I drive my buddies f150 its back all the way. food for thought anyways.

Looks like a really nice truck. I always want more power so I know they could easily step on it more though. I wonder why they don't advance the power plant even a little?

It's putting the most power to the ground. All if the tests have shown the GM out accelerating everyone else with a load behind it. Power is not really needed. I'd say work on the economy and efficiency would be more approved by most owners.

I love my duramax and I'm 6'1 and haven't ever thought sitting in the back was bad at all. I even get compliments on how comfortabl the seats are. But I will give it to ford the back seat in the super dutys have more leg room

Why spend the money on development when it already rips? I have an '11 Denali and power/tranny are no where near an issue on that truck. Smooth power that pulls hard.

I would have liked to see more cab room as well. It's not terrible, not like it's cramped. It's just smaller than the Ford/Dodge.

I did a search for you. There are a number of xxxx vs GM/Chevy threads. Perhaps you could join one of those? Seems you're off topic on this one.

I have a 14 half ton Crew Chevy that replaced my 13 crew. I really liked my 13, but the 14 kicks butt. It way quieter inside and much more leg room. The ride its nicer, which is pretty hard to do considering the 13 rode nice as well.

AS for a straight Axle being better than IFS.....hogwash. If you lift them up or do crazy tweaks to the front end, then yes you will F up a IFS pretty quick. If you leave it stock then the IFS will last a long time. IFS ride way better than axle. I also have an 03 Dmax (I have been driving diesels for 20 yrs, so I'm no newbie on the No. 2 train) that the front end is all stock, and I even run the stock 245's tire size. I don't go mud boggin, I tow heavy loads done the highway. Same time I bough this a friend bought same truck. He went to 285's and jacked around with keys to get them to fit, he wore his front end out in no time. Actually he was on his 3rd front end when he traded it in and mine is still all original. When I snowplowed back in my college yrs we had 1 ton IFS Chevy's and 1 ton Rams. The Chevys where tough as nails never giving us a hiccup. Dodges when thru front end parts left and right. Now, here at my work we have a fleet of 3/4 ton Fords and Chevys. I'm not gonna get into the motor end of things, as it would take me hrs and hrs to tell you how the Fords puke out on us all the time, but the fronts ends on the fords did the same thing as the Dodge. The Chevy's needs ball joints around 240k.

Now, as for diesel option, and remember I'm a diesel guy, they don't make sense for about 70% of the people who own them. If you have to tow 10k+ trailers all the time, then yes a oil burner is for you. If you just drive 100k a yr and think the diesel motor will last you, then your wrong. Todays diesel motors will last a long time, but everything that's bolted to them to make the EPA happy doesn't last forever and its $$$$ to fix. Think about it, gas motors have had 40+ yrs to get the emissions stuff correct, diesels have been only a few yrs since they even needed a CAT (my 03 doesn't have one form the factory).

The half tons of today are not the same as a few yrs ago. My 14 is rated to pull 9600 lbs. Most snowmobile trailers full of sled don't come close to this. My 24' full of sleds is less than 5500lbs. My half ton pulls it fine, and I get 13 MPG. A diesel would get a bit better (my 03 would get 18-19, a new diesel with emissions maybe 15-16) but if your just pulling on weekend who cares. Again, with gas emissions going on 40+ yrs, the motors are lasting forever. I also have a Jetta diesel. Its a great car, but I have replaced every emissions component on the car, to the sum of LOTS of money. The extra loot I spend on this crap easily exceeds what I would have spent in extra fuel costs on just getting a gasser Cruze.

BTW, I'm in Detroit right now designing the trucks you wont see for another 3-4 yrs. I get to see/do all the testing and development that goes into them. I will say this...... your crazy if you buy anything by Chrysler. I have seen 1st hand what Fiat has done to them, and it would blow your mind the corners they cut to save a buck. I worked on the 14 GM trucks 3 yrs ago and they had a solid project going on. I have been on the new Aluminum F150 for over a yr and even though its a 1st of its kind, Ford is working very hard to make a great truck.

For sure they are pricey but seems like all the decked out trucks are all about the same price.

Paid 52k for my 2012 Laramie limited ram. Highest option ram offers. I bet the Denali was nowhere near that.
