2013 RK Tek 858 working extremely well

How does it compare to cat and etec big bores Kelsey ? I don't see any comparison video from your site with the pro. The Polaris is either way better or worse than the other two hence no comparison. I own a 13 pro and don't think the motor responds to mods as well as the other two due to poor design of it.

I think there would be a lot more interest if we had more rider reports.

Also we need to know what kind of H.P. gains over stock are we getting for the 2000.00 plus spent on this kit.

You wont get any HP claims from RKT on the engine.. Same with Carls .. been this way for years.

It would be nice for talking about... but there are so many variables that that is really a "hollow number" anyway.

Vohk will give some of his own reports... good to see a top tuner putting this on a sled and running it through it's paces.

Promising kit... especially since it runs stock reeds and a stock pipe!

Just curious, why do you think he gives Skidoo and Arctic Cat #'s and no Polaris on his website:face-icon-small-con

I have over 700 miles on my 858 and haven't had any issue with it. Just fill it up with gas and pull the rope. Beside Kelsey has been awesome to deal with and does not leave you hanging. Does it out pull the stock pro? Yes. It won't compete with the turbo but for 2000 bucks you are getting whole new top end and more power than the slp stage 4 kit, can't really go wrong with that.

what altitude, clutching and fuel controller are you running?

3000 to 7000 feet, boondocker fuel controller, innovate afr wideband, 10-66 with stock secondary setting. I did run mds clutch weight, just couldn't get the rpm to stay at 8300, put in 10-66 and 8300 all day long

are you running stock pipe and reeds.i guess you could not pull 10-66 stock, atleast not at 8300:face-icon-small-hap
would love to hear from anyone running a 858 from sea level to 4000.had RKT drop in kit in my 2011,worked flawlessly.858 in my 2013 should haul the mail.

yah im using stock pipes and reeds, when my sled was bone stock i had 10-62 and was pulling around 8250 and sometime stays at 8100. so with 58 cc more and adding 4 more grams to the clutch weight its pretty impressive and really feel the power up high in the rpm range. i think once i save up my money and get the team tied clutch and put in kelsey custom helix for the 858.

Thanks for the feedback!

700 miles is a pretty good start.............It'll be nice to see how it's running at 2000 miles............Was there a suggested top end overhaul(piston replacement) interval???

Please don't take this the wrong way - as for whether it'll "out pull" a stock Pro, I sure as he77 hope it would...............:face-icon-small-win

In addition the primary weight increase, can you please be bit more specific on the power gains over a stock machine???

Thanks again,

Glen

as for power, its very linear but you can feel the power in the top end and kelsey said it performs even better at 8400 to 8500 which i haven't set my clutch to rev that high. but i will change out my chaincase sprocket to 19/45 and see if that will bring my rpm up a bit. as for overhaul i checked out my top end at 600 mile. and inspect the piston by removing my head and ves. piston looked good and no signs of scoring. i would imagine it would need to be replace every 1500 miles just like any other 2 stroke sleds. but one thing i really like is how smooth this engine is compare to the 800cc stock block. i really like this kit

Glad to hear it. I've been interested in this kit for awhile now. hoping to hear some more feedback from others.

D8- im sure you've been on a few mod sleds with more hp, im assuming. What does your a$$ dyno say as far as hp? I know its just a number, but id at least like to know what $2100 gets.

Good to hear!

If these kits in the CFI-2 engines can consitently hang together for 1500 miles, I'll gladly pay $400 each time in preventitive maintenance.............

Thanks again for the feedback :yo:,

858

Don't personally own an 858 but have ridden one two different times. The first thing I notice when I get on the throttle headed up a climb is how responsive the throttle feels all the way through the power band. It reaches 8400 rpm from any spot in the power band "Now". I'm a mountain climber first and foremost but do enjoy boondocking on the way to the big climbs. And this motor was built to do both, when you pin it to the bars it pulls just as hard at the top of the hill as it does at the bottom. My butt Dyno tells me this sled is making 20 more ponies over stock. And that is with the stock pipe!

Exactly what ghost rider said. It's really noticeable gain of power. It's not arm ripping off your shoulder power. It's just the power that hang on top and stays on top and no power fade. I am really happy with this kit. Oh and the fuel setting is bang on did not have to play around with it.

Wow your negativity gets old. We get it, the pro is a pos. Not sure how they manage to sell any.

--It's a compliment -- with a BB kit installed, the CFI makes industry standard HP like other 800cc engines

--Maybe someday Polaris will build one box stock with that kind of power --
in the meantime, RKT BB kit solves engine reliability issues and makes power like a 800cc should
