2013 Doo (not impressed)

Not to shure about all the things skidoo has done over the years to make the xp side hill better. I have always had a wide front end on my race sleds and have never found one time I could not put my sled where anyone on any other brand couldn't go. I have got to give Polaris credit for making a average riders think they are pros. It is all in what you fill good on.
 
It doesn't even move 4 degrees. 4 in total, but it will only move 2 degrees to either side from 90.

To illustrate just how little that is.

I dunno? I'll reserve judgement until I try it... it just doesn't seem like it will even be noticeable though.

hmmm...my shafts are worn out in my old sled...i think i won;t replace them because they give me 8 degrees..

The new ski-doo is a game changer from what they are trying to tell us. I should probably sell my Prormk so I can get in on the new game.
 
It may be a game changer but unfortunally for skidoo there playing the wrong game...lol

The fact that I can still see the handling quirks rearing their ugly head in the dealers ride video tells me almost everything I need to know. I'll still demo it, but it looks like those bugs are still stuck in the chassis far beneath all the band aids.

I'm hearing something different from guys that have ridden it.
The most commonly heard issues look to be mostly addressed from what I can tell by looking at the changes. It will not be a Pro clone...and is not intended to be.
That's why there are different sleds, don't like it then don't buy it :face-icon-small-con
 
ya, does anyone have a pic or video of someone riding a sled with their foot on top of the front spindle??????!!!! The marketing person responsible for that needs to be let go..Or I am missing something???

One plus note for Doo, they did a way better job making a clean looking goggle compartment versus the aftermarket bag that Polaris did. I like the seat and tank of the doo and the painted tunnel...Polaris engineers need to understand about the snow collecting to raw aluminum...

2-3 times a year when i mess up in a really steep tree filled slope, and I need some weight on the front of the sled, i will put a foot on the front spindle. Usually for about 2-3 feet to get past a tree or something. Then i am back on the running board. Def not something i would do all the time.

Also. Painted parts = more $$$. Polaris will have wrap options for the tunnel at extra cost as an option. Doo just charges you for it up front. I prefer to design my own wraps and put those on the tunnel. :)
 
4 degrees is like a 20 year old Polaris with wore out parts in the rear suspension .WOW!!!! Is sidehill even on flat ground. I don't think that just the four degrees will make it ride like a Pro RMK, everything is mounted the same as Polaris. Eventually it might ride like a Polaris.

I want to see that maneuver in a Boondockers video! It sounds original and would be cool see it. I'm still trying to figure out how you could work the throttle, steer, have your left foot on the left spindle, and right foot on the board...It kind of reminds me of pegs on the front wheels of bmx bikes for the freestyle street kids.

I agree on the cost but would really like a matte black E coated tunnel or dark grey hard anodize from the factory. They have the ability to get all the sub components painted or ano before they rivet/bond the tunnel together. The vinyl wraps do not get under the tunnel or above the drive shaft where ice builds up. Maybe a limited edition Pro RMK would allow it to be price more. Polaris did make some 900 dragons with black tunnels which are rare.

I would totally pay for a limited edition polaris that had a coated tunnel, coated rails, coated spindles, coated board supports, coated boards.. basically no raw exposed aluminum. Since I strip all my parts to have this done it would be cool to not have to mess with it. I'm not a fan of wraps. I like a clean and refined look, like a Ducati.

I saw it done this weekend on an IQ RMK. The sled was stuck. We moved the front over to get it pointed at least sidways to the slope instead of pointing straight up. But there is a tree on the downhill side and off course the sled is leaning toward the tree and downhill side. So one of the guys helping to dig him out fired it up and was having a hard time getting the sled and his balance right because of the severe slope. So he put one foot on top of the spindle the other on the running board and was able to have on hand on the handle bar and throttle and the other on the grab bar. Most of his body was leaning out on the up hill side. Drove it right out. Worked pretty slick.
 
Painting the aluminum is needless weight,
Powder Coating it is also needless weight, and weakens all the heat treated aluminum parts to boot, unless it is the extreme low heat process (less than 250 degrees) but even that still adds needless weight.
The best route without any weight penalty is Hydro-Phobic Hard Anodizing, period! Anodizing is a chemical process by which the natural oxide coating is converted to an even tougher coating and typically about a thousandth of and inch thick.

It is a shame the closest anodizer to me is in Washington because shipping all the aluminum parts from Alaska sucks big $. The plus side of this particular anodizing is it is impregnated with teflon so no snow or water sticks to it. In my opinion all aluminum on the sled should be anodized by this process. Nothing should be left raw aluminum to attract water weight. Some day the manufactures will realize this and do it as part of the pre-production process and at that point in the grand scheme of things will make it an economical addition for us all.

Those that tout the painted tunnel of the skud are trying to justify the 50+ pounds their brand is overweight and are in denial of the other shortcomings as well. JMHO

Or they like the looks of it and think it's worth a couple extra pounds.:face-icon-small-dis
