2012 Nytro going on a major weight loss program ?

I am still not sold on the Nytro motor or that chassis. If they shaved a 100 lbs. off the Apex and came with the G-Force YamaCharger I would be all over it. I am not a big guy by any means but I prefer the Apex to the Nytro. I think if they dumped the power steering, put the Pro-Mountain Air skid, replaced a bunch of steel with some stronger lighter stuff and had it in the 170-185 horse range (read G-Force and some tuning) it would be awesome!

Go ahead...bash away.....:blah::blah::blah:

New stronger front end, ~450-475lbs, and some more power to keep up with the 800s stock. Then I would sell my XP and be back on a Yami.

They certainly have the ABILITY to pull it off.
Only question is, have they decided to DO IT.

Hopefully that little bird is right...:face-icon-small-hap

Why not just drop a few grand on a low boost pump gas turbo on a nytro and say bye bye to any stocker?

True but yamahas already cost more (retail) then everybody else so can we at least get the power and weight everybody else has then add goodies on top of that. All I want is 160hp, ~450-475, and a little more strength. Now instead of a low boost being 180-200hp, its 200-220hp:face-icon-small-coo

Now that Yamaha has publicly announced the new TURBO and SUPERCHARGER options for the 2011 Nytros, we are even closer to seeing if the lighter weight 2012 Nytro is a reality.....:face-icon-small-hap

Yamaha Corp has been very tight lipped.
But there are some folks who have been working on project sleds for months now.

Some were working on the Turbos & Superchargers that were just announced.

Others working on the Suspension that was just announces.

And still others working on additional weight savings..

The 2012 sled could be what Nytro Lovers have been waiting for....

More Power, Less Weight, right off the showroom floor.

March is always when they announce the next season's sleds.
I can't imagine they would say anything that might negativly impact this year's sales before March.

I heard the news from a little bird about the turbo/super a day before the news became public and supposedly they have been testing this stuff for a long time. The nytro motor boosted had over 1500 miles of non-stop WFO testing done. Who ever stays on the throttle for 2 miles under boost? Let alone 1500. I think this is going to be killer for Yamaha...now let's just work on "lightening" the price up.

That little bird is still chirping away about significant weight loss as well as more power.

There could be a new sled in my future.

Many people actually. Take a trip to the Pemberton Ice Fields sometime. It is quite normal to climb 2-3000 ft at WOT for minutes on end. I do agree with your point though. I put 6000 trouble free miles on my TRX1 and sold it to someone who continued to rack up the miles.
