2012/13 Togwotee snow conditions

I have had 5-6 friends go up for the past 3 weeks just to break in their 13's..

Im heading up tomorrow, from what everyone has told me stay north of the Divide...
Few have ridden around the lodge itself, there's to many land mines south of the divide to chance it..

Will post an update tomorrow night once we get back..

anyone planning on thanksgiving? heard up to three feet further north of the lodge. worth the 12 hour drive? been going crazy all summer. . . . .
Honestly as hard as it might be I would wait. I drove over the pass yesterday and it's barely rideable. Unless we get more snow this week it probably wouldn't be worth the drive. I would say more like 2' way up top, now I didn't ride up there at all but I find it hard to believe there would be 3' definitely doesn't look like it. Just work Thanksgiving day so your boss will give you time off in a couple weeks it will be worth the wait.

Calling for 4-8 inches wednesday and wednesday night and then more likely this weekend. Still debating if we are heading there for Thanksgiving.

The JHMR posted 11 inches this morning and it snowed hard for another couple of hours after the rport. Looks like north, aka Togwotee, got the best of it. Had some buddies I will see tomorrow up there yesterday. I will see what they said.

Been freakishly warm this year. Gotten lots of snow, just haven't kept it. Looks dry until next weekend.

Talked to my buddies today. One just got a 2013 proclimb M800 sno pro and he could wait no longer. They said you could go off trail, but it was dicey. Lots of crap to hit if you didn't really watch out. Trails for ok. They were there Fri, said they weren't going back till more snow, but we got 13 inches on Sat night. Looks like the next storm is Friday night. Getting better. :)

??????

me and a couple of my buddies are looking to go to Togwotee for the first time from december 26 to jan4 and i know this is about snow conditions and ive been looking at it every night but was wondering if anyone knows any hotels that are not to expensive around that area that we could trailer our sleds to every day. Any info would be awesome but PM me with any info because its alot easier! and i will still be looking at this page everynight untill then ha Thanks!

I was able to lock down a group anyways for going out west ...So we will also be leaving South Eastern Minnesota early on the 26th and come back Jan 1st ....Right now you can get Cabins at TML for Approx just under $50 per person figureing 4 per cabin ..(They only had like 8 out of 50 some cabins left for that time frame..TML area is where the best riding is in my opinion ...We use to try and save a few bucks by trailing to the hill everyday but we have found it to be real nice just to get out of Cabin Jump on sled and head out ...

There is only one hotel on Togwotee, Togwotee Mountain Lodge. There are several small inns, B&B's etc....up there too like the Line Shack. They are fun, but not cheap.

Jackson is roughly 45 minutes to an hour away. It has some low priced hotels like the Motel 6 and Super 8, plus grocery stores, resturants and nightlife. If you want to stay in Jackson, try the 49're or Antler Inn. Both are pretty cheap and just a couple of blocks from the town square where the resturants and nightlife are. Both are also freindly to snowmobilers as many of the hillclimb crowd in March stay at one of these two. They have parking for trailers.

The only other option is the Hatchet Motel at the base of Togwotee. It is about 15-20 minutes from TML. Not sure what their rates are, but thier phone # is 307-543-2413.

There is Lava Mt. about a half hour drive,
there are several places to stay up by the line shack,
but it takes about 15 mn to get up from 26 287, if road is good and the
same back down, you can ride out from there to and hit trails but it's a couple hour sled ride to get up to Tog area.
Have stayed at Dubois they have half dozen hotels, motels very cheap.
It's about a 45mn drive up to were you can stat to drop off.

Have any of you guys ever rode the Union Pass area south of Tog? I live out here year-round and can't understand why everyone is so stuck on Tog? You can ride down here stay away from all the people and find some amazing riding. We can put you up in a cabin for $125 per night, that's $31.25 a night each for 4 people or in a bunk house room for $75 per night, only $18.75 per person! We have full bar/restaurant, 17 cabins, 3 bunk house rooms, 24-hr pay at the pump fuel, sled rentals, and you can ride right from your cabin. Can you really afford to stay in town or at TML for that cheap? Check out our website or give us a call 307-455-2815.

My group has been staying at TML for the past 3 years and to say the least, accomodations are second to none! Awesome lodging, excellent/experienced guiding service and not to mention superior riding conditions. We have been doing the Classic Winter Package every year which gives you lodging, guide service, buffet breakfasts, dinner at the restaraunt and a happy hour every night including appetizers. For an additional $20 per person, per night with 4 in a cabin it is an absolute no-brainer for me to do the Classic Winter Package, not to mention I could guarantee I drink that additional $20 per night in drinks at happy hour! If I am driving from the midwest with a 24 hour hike and my past experiences with TML, I will be doing this trip for years to come!

I thought this was a snow report thread...can we stay on snow reports.

Since we are back to snow.....heard Togwotee after the storm Sunday was pretty good actually. Looks like they moved the one supposed to hit us this coming Friday night up a little, now it is Friday during the day. Too early to tell accumulation forecasts, but looking meaty.
