The owner from UT and the guy trying to buy the place brought up a deputy to serve us notice of eviction and at first tried to make us leave immediatly. We now have 3 days to pack up and move back to colorado. Said we werent doing a good enough job and not making enough money. Prices will go up and they will try and make more money. Thank you all for being so great. We loved it up here and enjoyed your friendships.

Corey and dawnie

sorry to hear! hope things get better for u guys. i never made it to the horns this past year but by the sounds of these guys posting on here u guys did a great job. good luck in colorado!

Hate to say it this way but I will not go back there if the prices are going up even more now and new host's to boot. Good luck to the both of you back home and you will be missed very much from the sledding community. Sounds like the owners are some real winners!!:face-icon-small-fro

I am sorry to hear that. My wife and I had a great time both times that we stayed at the lodge this last winter. We felt right at home in a little piece of paradise. Many of us may change our minds about coming back after hearing such unfortunate news. That is quite a way to handle someone who you have trusted to run your business for a year.

So sorry to see you two leave.

I did some snooping around and found that the new husband and wife managers have a facebook page called "The Spotting Scope". It is based off of animal photography, mainly of wolves in Yellowstone. Hate to say it but now High Country Lodge is being managed by pro wolf and pro wilderness people.

I will not be returning to high country, don't want to support people who are against us recreational users and hunters.

Well if that is true I wont be going there either! I thought us Wyomingites tried to keep the yuppies out of WY and especially off the mountain! All well I guess more business for Bear, Elk and Arrow. Was pretty hot today, and worked at the face of the horns and couldn't help think all day about riding balls deep in some pow! Good to see some folks got a June ride in. Thinking about heading up Penrose this weekend, will try and post some pics.

We wish the best of luck to Corey and Dawnie. I thought they ran the lodge very well. We also have dropped plans to go out there in August to spend some time at the lodge. By the looks of things may not be back there sledding either if things do change.

WySteph, I checked out The Spotting Scopes Facebook page. It doesnt look good if it is true that they will be managing the High Country. Betting they probably arent a fan of snowmobilers. Oh well. I'm ok with just packing sandwiches for lunch when riding Lovell side. More ride time that way!! :face-icon-small-hap

WySteph how did you find out this info and when do they start. Says on their page that they are camp hosting a campsite in the Bridger Teton forest this summer. If what is assumed is true and they are granolas, it may be a very long and unprofitable winter for the owners this year. I wonder how tough it is going to be bringing all the supplies into there on foot or cross country skies after the snow flies.

Love ya all

Thank you all for the posts and encouragement.

GREAT NEWS......

Dawnie and I are still on the mountain and are still treating guests and staff of Elk View Inn - Burgess Junction side of the mtn just like we did at the other place!! I am the manager and Dawnie is working front desk. We will be having positive reviews posted soon on Tripadvisor and are helping make this place even better. The staff here are great and want to make this palce shine. It's number 2 out of 4 right now and we'll have it to number 1 in 3 months. Not sure why Larry did what he did. I have known him for 12 years and watched his kids grow up. His loss and Rick and Roberta's gain. Please call or come by if you are on the mtn and see us.

High Country's loss will be Elk View's gain. Glad to hear you guys found a place to land. Elk View will surely benefit from having you and Dawnie!! Keep the snow reports comin Corey!! :face-icon-small-hap

That is good news. We went to the Elk view when we were on that side. Seemed like it had a lot of potential. Nicer than Bear and more room. Hope you do well there. Guess we will see you next winter afterall.

Corey I am stoked you guys are still going to be in the area. I am with my ski-doo buddy mtsummitx, high country's loss but I'm glad we didn't have to lose you.. We will definitely be up to see you this coming season.

Oh and by the way mtsummitx, I love the picture of your 2014 summit bumble bee choking out the 1999 120 kitty cat. ;)All kidding aside, looking forward to riding with you more this season my friend.

LOL!! Absolutely, more rides this season.

we spent 3 days at high country last week and the new managers treated us great! I really don't have one bad thing to say about them. we rode four wheelers out of there and were happy to have us we were the first overnight customers for them there is defiantly a learning curve. It seems to me that the managers are all pretty darn good people just that the owner may be some what of a difficult person. just my .02

Are the new managers the ones that were posted here by Wyosteph? Doesn't matter how good of people they are. If the owner is an ahole which may be the case by the way he went about what he did, then to heck with that place. You just don't treat people like that. Seems like High Country has a rep of a new manager a year, that may speak volumes about the owner.

With the way the owner went about kicking them out, and with the manager being a "Pro Wilderness" type person I don't know why a person who is passionate about snowmobiling and four-wheeling would support them. Just seems obvious to give business to a place that is just as for the sport as we all are. just my .02

We stopped in to Wyoming High Country this week as well. (I did not spend any money though) Just snooping. They treated us good as well. But they are not going to blow off snowmobilers and atvers as they know that we are their biggest customer in the Bighorns. They know that they will be booted as well if sales are not improving. Please do not support these people. The best we can hope for is that they will be gone before the snowmobile season. Look at their Facebook page and find out who they really are. They will not show that side of them when you walk into the lodge.

They had a post on Wyoming High Country's Facebook page that said they are open for business. I posted how they are involved in High Country then the Facebook page got deleted. I PM'ed them on Facebook and that's when they told me they are the new managers of the Lodge. I am not making any of this up!

I copied and pasted this from my Facebook PM.

I would like to know what your part is in Wyoming High Country Lodge? I use the lodge year round and need an understanding what is going on up there. Thanks, Steph

Hi Stephanie. My husband and I are the soon-to-be new managers. How do you use the Lodge year round?
