2011 M8 / HCR ECU 17 Code

I have a question regarding the ECU 17 error code.
I believe this is for the exhaust sensor, and I have cleaned and or replaced the exhaust sensor on these sleds and still get the error code. Does the "computer" need flashed or what can I try? Sleds continue to run just fine. Thanks.

It's mostly a bad wiring near the connector if i remember. Happened once the first year i had mine and i rerouted the wiring for less vibration.

You can do a research here for a GM replacement number if yours really bad.
The reflash was for the ethanol and low elevation.

ECU code 17
GM part number for duramax exhaust sensor is a direct replacement for my 16 SP M8000. I accidentally overheated the motor and so the code flashed and I believe it failed due to excessive heat. Other people maybe unknowingly running their machines hot leading to similar failures.
Even though the thread is old, I wanted to follow up for others seeking possible solutions as this helped me.
Conditions: iced/hard pack covered with 4 inches of lake effect fluff- still not enough snow? I didn't have scratchers down, condition went away with powder and then ecu code came on.
Riding: continued the next day with code staying on, slightly affecting running motor: pulled timing? Rich running on the top end? Though totally ridable!
Part: various GM numbers work starting with 126...... cross referencing with duramax EGT sensor. Ordered from o'reilly for $65 (cheaper elsewhere but in a pinch)
Work: pull panels and hood, connector and bolt on pipe. Hardest thing was gettting at wire ties holding wire to frame. I didn't pull the pipe, however it may have saved time with fishing the connect and snipping the zip tie. Easy.
Fixed: code went away instantly and ran marginally better? I was doing zero trail or high speed running so it was hard to say how much better it ran. Probably more piece of mind than actual fix cuz it really didn't slow our trip down.

Hopefully someone will benefit from this-

I have had several people with this same code and they also tried replacing the exhaust sensor with factory sensors and gm sensors only to have the code come right back. In all of these cases there was a broken wire to the exhaust sensor. I found the break in the wire on all of these sleds by using a volt ohmmeter by testing continuity between the sensor plug and the ecu plug. Then used a set of aviation bed of nails tool ( self healing holes) attached to the ohm meter to pinpoint the exact location of the break and fixed the wire. All of the wire breaks were within 6 inches of the sensor connection in the sleds wire harness. Be careful not to use too large of back probe or you will have to tape over the probe holes to reseal them and keep from future problems. Hope this helps you
