You cant miss the truck black,lifted 03 f350 with 2008 front end, six doors(crew cab and suicide), the box side move out on actuators too handle 2 sleds without sled deck. Please phone authorities with any info thanks.....

let us know

Guys, please let us know when they are located and found safe!

Last year (maybe 2 years ago) a dad got seperated from his little girl and it turned into a bit of an event. While he was wiping her tears and buying her pizza, half the sledders, (RCMP and search and rescue involved) where still scowering the mountain looking for her. Thankfully she was safe and all was well!!

Hopefully these guys are ok....but please let us know.

i saw a black ford up at the coquihalla on sunday. It was wierd looking with a quad cab, then an extended cab attached to that and a flat deck on the back. it was all black. there were two sleds on there but dont know what they were. it came into the parking lot, but didn't see if they unloaded there or kept going. I didn't notice it in the parking lot when we were loading, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there somewhere. We were at the washrooms at briton creek.

Thanx for the concern, we had a mechanical issue with my new m8. Fawken dealer didn't install washers on the upper or lower shock mounts. The first float shock fell into the shock tower and I lost my steering. We had to disassamble the ski mounts (to steal washers) and remove both front shocks. By the time we had the repair completed we had lost all visibility. We back tracked the gps tracking to the glacier lodge cabin and bunked down in there. I was sending "we are ok" from my Spot messenger to my girlfriend and sledding partner. None of the transmssions were sent but not received due to cell phone error. We starting sending out the messages from approx 6pm and through out the night. Revelstoke search and rescue tried sending spot transmissions today as well with noone recieving the messages either. We got up this morning and followed our gps tracks back to the frisby cabin. We were heading back to the truck and met up with revelstoke SARS. Big thanks to those guys for coming out! Snow conditions were great and woke up to 2ft of fresh up top. I'll post pics when I get home as I am posting this from my phone.

Crazy stuff guys. Glad your o.k! Maybe we can use this as a reminder to all, to make good and sure to take that second look at any preseason repair jobs, before venturing out of bounds. :beer;

good thing that cabin is there, a bunch of us had to stay there in march because of a storm and low visibilty, i imagine the door is the same even though we payed em $900 for a new one

Glad to hear everything turned out ok. So you woke up with another 2ft up there as of this am??

Cant wait to see the pics!! Must be getting awesome up there!!

Jake

Good to see you are ok!
Could it have been the heavy snowfall that limited your spot transmissions? just curious.
I would dream to have 2 feet of fluff to ride out home in!!

Yea that could have been a factor, but we started sending last night around 6 right through this morning. We sent one this morning around 8am and the clouds had broken and still nothing went through. The ride out was awesome, unfortunately we didn't get full enjoyment on the way out. Stressing about whether the spot worked plus low fuel. But aside from that conditions were great! Sorry I havent uploaded the pictures yet I just walked through the door. I'll get some up tomorrow:beer;:beer; Thanks again for the concern;)

READ: The spot messages were sent but not received due to cell phone error!

I know on the older unit that if it can not acquire a signal the on and ok button flash separately. So when you hit th ok button maybe 3-6 minutes later they will stop flashing in unison but alternate flashing lights. I have used the spot in several different location/weather in revy and typically have about a 80%-90% success rate in sending.

What I find works best is to hit the ok button and sit the unit on the sled seat until either it sends or starts the alternate blinking.

I have read that the ok light stays on for 5 seconds and that is supposed to be your confirmation that the signal was sent but it typically takes 7-15min to send that dam message so I dont stare at it for that long waiting for the light to stay solid.

Movement/cloud cover/snowfall/trees/inside vehicles/ buildings what ever the case may be I have been disappointed with how much trouble the spot has in finding a signal and acquiring your location.

In the end its better then nothing and cheaper(significantly) then a sat phone but it is far from perfect. Contrary to what others may say I have problems with sat phones as well, nothing is perfect but still nice to have something.

The units are run by a very small power supply IMO, did you have a new or newer set of lithium batteries?

Your problem that you had is one of my biggest beefs with this unit. Why cant they make it like a pager and give you a GD confirmation signal. You can spend an hour to send 3 messages and have no idea if they made it out or not. I know it can be done because the unit gets a location form a sat then downloads the coordinates, then uploads to service sat which then DL to the service provider then they send out the message. So in the end there should be 2 way confirmation. This is where the sat phone wins hands down, 2 way communication-You know they got the message and if in trouble you know if they are coming or not!

Update on spot info

Okay I tried the SPOT last night before bed in thick cloud and rain. Worked Flawless! Tried it again this morning walking the dog, Flawless! Tried again a few minutes ago Flawless! I logged on to my SPOT account and saw the OK messages were sent on my night out BUT my girlfriends phone did not show the messages. Appears that her cell phone is the problem as the messages were sent to my email and my other contacts email. I apologize to spot for the misleading information on my behalf and applaud them for chiming in. I hope this clears up any misinformation from my experience.:beer::beer:
