2009/10 Snowy Range snow conditions

Woke up to 4 inches of snow, but then it really started coming down. I'd swear there's been three inches in the last hour and a half. I plan to head up near Greenrock after work so I'll post that update later today.

Howdy Jen & Kelly, been missin' you man! Sharon and I have done some traveling lately and should be up this weekend. I'm jonesin' I tell ya! Going to Steely Dan tomorrow - the Aja Album :)

Heading up Friday for some tuning. The snow is as good now than it was last season at the end of November. From my personal experience the Snowies have major land mines until late January, so ride scared or ride smart, but ride...there are plenty of places in the Snowies that are safe for some testing/tuning or just to get some break in miles on your new sled.

Will post pics Saturday.

Hopefully the gas stations are carrying the non-resident permits by this weekend...

and of cource I will miss the first ride of the season.
Oh well.
weekend after this one.

Do not get me wrong there is snow. We were up on sunday ;) we could not really leave the road. All the snow we are getting will just hide the rock better. Be safe. There are NO trail markers up either.

Looks like there is already quit a base accumulating!!! I was in that area just southwest of Lake Marie on the 20th and there was around 30 inches...it's only going to get better especially with these forcasts calling for more and more snow. PM me if anyone is interested in meeting up this weekend (Oct. 31st or Nov. 1st and going for a ride!!)

First ride at snowies video of lake marie.

Not sure why he posted this in Colorado but here it is.

I was just looking at the SNOTEL hourly reports over the last 24 hours. It looks like the most snow has fallen at Sand Lake (16"), then Cinnabar(10"), then Brooklyn(7"), then French Creek (2").

That figures with an upslope storm that French Creek wouldn't get as much (Brush Creek shows nothing). We'll see what it does tonight/tomorrow.

tmk50 is right. I snowshoed up around Greenrock and I'm fairly certain Centennial got more snow. The measuring stick up there only showed 6 inches since yesterday.

The snow tapered off quite a bit after noon. We'll see what tonight brings, but I'm afraid we've seen the best of it.

Also, be careful if you're going to ride. Like wyogeorge said, there's places to go that are relatively safe, but the landmines are everywhere.

Here's a couple of pics.
