Looks to be a good year on the North side. However the highway is under construction going up from Dayton. It was a mess during hunting season.

Not sure what they will do with it during winter months? I've been told they will have it open year round.

They are suposed to have the new part of the road from Steamboat to Black Mountain Road done as of this last week. Hopefully they took advantage of the warmer weather and got it done. It was a mess and would suck this winter if they didn't. I am going to take a drive in the morning, I will let you know how the road is.

The road is done from Steamboat to Black Mountain Road, then back on the old road, but at least it is not mud and bumps. The mountain needs some snow though. It has been pretty warm the last week.

how is the snow around the passage and bear lodge? rideable? looking at coming out next week from eastern SD so is it worth it?

so your saying no snow or just not any new stuff? my cousin booked the rooms awhile ago.... is it rideable atleast for a getaway trip? how much will we be looking at if any?

I would call up there to either Bear or Passage and ask them directly. I live 100 miles away and I'm not even thinking about going until we get a decent storm up there. Check out bear lodge's webcam if you want a pic.

I was in Sheridan today, I looked up towards the Bighorns and they look BARE. I was going to go up for thanksgiving weekend but I think I will save my money. I noticed that Bear Lodge hasen't updated there web cam picture in a while, I dont think they wanna show anyone the bare ground.

I rode the big horns on wednesday, there is nothing around the lodges to ride on. Luckily 14a wasn't closed yet so we drove all the way up to bald mtn and found some ok snow to run some fresh gas through the sleds with but not worth coming from SD for.
