2006 REV SUMMIT X coming from polaris ?????

I had a 06 Summit X as a demo sled. Put about 1k on it, while my brother(mechanic) put on another 500 or so. Super fun sled.
It was a 144 and there was not a stock or mildly stock Edge even close. Even made mincemeat out of a '06 rmk900 Holzed up with Boondockers.
It was the first Rev I'd ridden since the winter of '03 on the '03.5 Rev 144. Absolutely the most fun in the mountains is on a 144.
The machine floated awesome, totally sold me on the 16" tracks. Hands down better. You could jump it large and climb anything within reason. The DEEP days you found jumps and pounded lesser known lines up through the trees and had fun. When the snow is a little more set-up, it'll climb as high as you want it to.
Re-geared it, MBRP can, and a little clutching. Otherwise stock. I'd try to find a 144. Although fewer around, I think it'd be worth your while.

I second the ability of the 144 REV, i rode with an 05 800 144 and that gave my BB cat 144 15 complete hell. he smashed me in the deep climbing..

Heres my example of it, on my mcat i could climb to the top if the hill really fast and get stuck at the top, were he would go up and be trenching the entire time moving 1mph lol and just scoot by me and go over the top.. im 50lbs heavier too though but still, my mountain cats done people with 153 challengers in m7s and a renegade 144 but this summit 144x16 just made my pride hurt. Also, if you get a 151 and take the back rack of, it looks short enough to be a 136 lol so you can lie to people and say itsa 144 but really its a 151 lol

I mtn ride in washigton state, where the snow on the west slopes of the cascades are usually a little wetter,, heaviersnow,,,,then to the east or south,,,ie Idaho.... the 151 is to me the track to have. but the sled in add looks nice. the X model is the perferred sled to have. You could always put a151 on with an upgaded timberland skid. But your on the right track with the 06. buy the color you want and the model you want, the deal your looking for will surface.:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;cheers

let it snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

I ride a 06 summit x 159. Both my buddies have the same sled in 151 and I will out climb them everytime. We are all experienced riders and we spend all our time in the trees. I have no problems manuevering around, although I weigh 200 lbs. and that helps. The only thing added to my sled is the MBRP can and a 10 in riser. Anyway welcome to skidoo, you wont regret it.
P.S. I think I saw some X's on craigslist/portland

the 06 summit X sleds had the newer narrow seat that looks like the 440 race seat

the adn models and all other X models had the crappy wide seat
well i guess i bought the good one. got it for 200. It still doesnt seem much skinnier but i havent even seent he adrenaline seat since iv taken it off lol. The edge chassis is fun but the rev is better in all aspects. imo imo

tracks

Well, from experience of riding stock sleds to my turbo Rev's in the mountains the best all around track for a stock 800 Rev is a 151x16x2.25. You have to remember that your polaris is a 151x15 and that is equal(as far as surface area on the snow) to a 144x16. Thus, in comparison, a 151x16 is equal to a 162x15. As people on here have said, 144 will boondock slightly easier than a 151, but in my opinion pretty close to the same. Longer track you get the more effort it takes to boondock, even when the weight of the sled is close to the same.

Alot of my buddies ride polaris with full SLP setups, Polaris and SLP should merge together and be one...ha.. and my dads backup sled is a 06 900 with SLP setup, clutched, NOS, holz w/ fox floats all- round, and a 166" and it will barely go were my friends 800 151 REV w/ a MBRP can, will go. And that 900 will wear you out after a couple hours of riding. You will love a 06 Rev and there will BE NO COMPARISON to your old polaris. It might take a ride or two before you get the hang of the rev.

How many miles is too many and if I ride in the cascades in some fairly dry snow will the 144 cut it? I like the idea of having a 151 thats equiv to a 162 but having a 144 thats equiv to a 151 with the extra track speed and weight might be better. I want to do drops and jumps as well!

I did the exact same switch you are looking todo. First of all you will notice on the trail how much easier the Rev will be. Stearing and riding are better. in the powder you will notice the front end come up on you much more, two things cause this the skies float vs the polaris the skies dive. Also the weight of the sled is further back so you will need to learn how to ride with your eyes instead of your hands. When the sled comes up don't worry just look where you want to go and it will happen. As for the power difference, it is hard to compair with your slp package you widen the powerband and creat peppyness. The 800 H.O. is very peppy much like your slp package was. The HO will have about the same top end in the way it feals but you will notice that your MPH will be much higher.

I would like to say one thing, be patient it takes a little bit to get used to, some guys never figure it out. you don't have to lean forward when pulling the sled over infact you stay in the middle to back and the sled will turn around you rather than you turning the sled. the first time you climb a familiar hill you will find that you will be going much higher on the rev and you will think that the track just keeps bitting.
