2 Snowmobilers pulled from Grand Lake

WOW that is incremenating! I night ride quite abit, not on lakes, but I also grew up riding sleds in the U.P. of Michigan and its the norm!

Interesting enough, the article has been updated to state that your acquiatance Ryan was nearly a by stander. Good thing you through him under the bus like that!!!!!!!

Ryan is usually driving the bus that runs him over, We have a lot in common!!!! (minus the likelyhood that alcohol was involved!)

If he had been injured or lost his sled or something I would have been a bit more concerned, but it sounds like he just got his butt dropped in some knee deep water & got a bit of a wake up!

He got just wet enough to get some crap!!!!

Just re-read the news report, funny that Ryan was one of them! A bit misleading that two sledders were pulled, sounds like he walked back out after breaking through.

Now that I know ryan was involved, I KNOW alchahol was involved!!!

Sorry Ryan, I had to!!

i was just going to say that you know the guy. lol. From what i remember, your name is Caleb right? :D

BTW,

that was HIS sled that went under ;) no insurance. '07 rev

I walk around drunk at night sometimes, it's a good thing there's no lakes over here or I'd be a swimmin' fool :p I keep running into all these stoopid trees:face-icon-small-con.

Brings me back to the days of watching the drunkards do some water skipping at bar time under the bridge at Lake Nokomis... With 1980's John Deere 440's! Watched more than one sink like the Titanic. They even had a life preserver on a rope to throw out to the unlucky...Only in Cheeseland!

Seriously though, do the Polar Plunge if you must go swimming this time of year at least they raise money for good causes, and you can drink beers for breakfast if you want:face-icon-small-win

oh sh*T, it's not funny anymore.

How did you find that out? I didn't see anything about that on the report.

I see that the guy who lost his sled has posted a few comments on the 9 news site, that's gonna suck getting it back out.

btw, yeah this is Kaleb

I'm close friends (or was close friends) with Ryan. I got a call from a mutual friend, with ALL the details.

I believe that guy on 9news is infact Ryan. He has a friend named Jman. i'm guessing that's what name he used for his login.

FWIR, Jman is back in florida. :beer;

Night ridin KICKS A&&. Do it a lot in GL, not on the lake though. Usually fresh groomed, no one on the trails, Woops all gone...WOT. Can't really go off trail, but still a rush, even more so for trails...

That's a bummer, hopefully he gets the thing out & it's rideable.

I have read all the postings on this thread. From the majority of the postings it appears that anyone who rides a snowmobile at 1 am or thereabouts must be drunk. OK, fair enough I guess. I bet none of you would ever be picked for jury duty. ha ha

LOL:face-icon-small-con TOTALLY MAN. Close down the GL Brewery, maybe a quick stop @ Grumpy
s then it's "I'll race you back to the cabin! You take the Highway, I'm taking the LAKE!"

Good thing the majority of north end of Grand Lake is only about 6'-8' deep. 2 Summers ago when they drained it for the algae problem, I was amazed at all the tree stumps just a few feet under the surface.....

:D

There was a recovery crew on Grand Lake yesterday (Friday) morning attempting to locate and pull the sled from the lake. They were going to scuba dive for it until they found out that the sled is in 147 feet of water!!! You can NOT dive that deep at this altitude (only 80 ft), at least not without a hyperbolic chamber (not many of those in Grand Lake). So they gave up. I guess the only way to pull it up this time of year is to somehow 'hook' it and pull it up with a helicopter. That should be fun to watch! I also heard that there were TWO guys riding the sled when it when in.... Nothing like guarantying that you're going for a swim at 1:30am!!

Max:D
