2 Snowmobilers pulled from Grand Lake

People who run off the road give other drivers a bad name.
Lots of ignorance to go around.

Did you notice that the call went in at 1:20 a.m., not saying they where drunk or anything but why the heck are they ridding the lake in the dark. Come on now!!!

Maybe they work days. lol

We were coming down the mountain on Saturday afternoon and a group was headed up for the night. Different strokes.

The midwest trail rider types that seem to populate GL tend to ride nights. It makes little sense to me, but back in WI where I'm from originally there were always people sledding at night.

you gotta make trails interesting somehow right? Get wasted & drive when you can't see, brings the challenge right back.

Check out the dunder head that made anti-snowmobile comments in the section below the article. He/she (heshe) called us all fat a$$e$ because we use a machine to experience the outdoors. Another hiker with an attitude against any mechanized use.

Funny that we're talking about night riding as I saw you ride in as we were leaving!!!! Dang flatlanders.

Pretty sure he wasn't there though.

Did you stay the night btw?

I guess I shouldn't have made that judgement so soon. I just don't know anyone that rides at night. I do apologize to anyone that I offened, that was not my intent. I am glad that they made it out alright and are still alive.

anyone that rides on grand lake is 99 out of a hundred going to be a flatlander and not local. as mentioned....1.20am....dunderhead....would also bet drinky drinky, then into the drinky..

As a exflatlander many years ago and now a ametuer/novice mountain rider I to like to ride at night sometimes. If your going to ride at night though go somewhere that you could ride with your eyes closed.

Yes, we rode alot at night and hopped from town too town and just about hit ever bar in each town back then.
I wouldn't even think about doing that know the mountains are fun but eveyone must respect them.

you sober up real quick when you hit those frigid waters!

It is nuts up here this New Years...

LOL:face-icon-small-con TOTALLY MAN. Close down the GL Brewery, maybe a quick stop @ Grumpy
s then it's "I'll race you back to the cabin! You take the Highway, I'm taking the LAKE!"

Good thing the majority of north end of Grand Lake is only about 6'-8' deep. 2 Summers ago when they drained it for the algae problem, I was amazed at all the tree stumps just a few feet under the surface.....

:D

hey, speaking of night riding, if you get out on full moon & disconnect your headlights so you acclimate it's a blast.
Gotta say one of my most enjoyable times on a sled was a full moon eve last year.

I grew up back east and the night riding was the standard. I have done tons of stuff at night. Skied on a full moon, sleddin on groomed trails, tubin.... Heres another perspective, if you have never rode at night under controlled conditions what makes you think your going to be ok when you have issues and then "have to" ride at night with no practice?

Just re-read the news report, funny that Ryan was one of them! A bit misleading that two sledders were pulled, sounds like he walked back out after breaking through.

Now that I know ryan was involved, I KNOW alchahol was involved!!!

Sorry Ryan, I had to!!
