1200 Ski-Doo MCX Turbo

well the 1200 did well for the sea-doo

the engine..

but do they use clutches and chains and all the in-betweens involved w/ snowmobile drive train. thats where the issues will lie.. i bet the engine 'works'.. its everything around it that i think most..or some are questioning.

comeone testers!!! Lets get all you lab rats to see if this thing will hold up so next year when its in a mountain chassis the rest of us can consider it!!

I see that Big john is offering a kit starting at $4000! Would be nice to have a good pump gas option like that! kind of like a 4000 dollar pump gas m8 but one that you can rack the miles on and not worry.

I would love to be able to buy a new 4stroke that already had a proper tank/track/(decent(but not perfect skid) and throw a turbo onto her for 4-5 with no other BS. 600lbwet 200ish hp turn-key for under $2000 with enough fuel capacity for a big day....priceless... just hopefully not 2-3 belts!!!:beer;:beer;:D

Great, we just need a few others to get out and start testing... i dont doubt anything about the sled, just want to see how the drivelines stand up..
Good luck and cant wait to here more on this.

i would be pretty leary of the drive system, i think we can all admit DOO could use to do their homework on the clutching a tad more, but the powerplant should be potent none the less.

It's not the drivetrain that I think will be the issue. It will be the engine. Specifically the pistons. They are cast. Any substanable boost for long periods(not dyno runs so don't bother telling me all about them) will eventually damage components.

When I asked a Doo Tech about boosting the 4-stroke those were pretty close to his exact words. He siad, change to forged and yeah, a couple other things and it could be impressive.

Hope it holds up for everyone trying it.

Pictures finally

Hope this works,
This Chassis is a thing of beauty. As always Bakers work is second to none...If this works as good as it looks then it will be awesome. 163x16x2.5 track in a light chassis

Is this a XP chassis Are XR chassis? And what kind of skid? Thats a nice looking sled very simple and clean layout.

It is a XP tunnel and XR bulhead. It looks like stock suspension with a Racers Edge coupling arm installed to replace the rear scissor.
I think that the manifold might need some heat shielding, especially near that plastic valve cover. It will be interesting to see how the under hood air filter works in deep pow. This sled should rip though.

Neil, there is a heat shield to put on yet, as a matter of fact a lot of it will need to be refitted. Going to try to route that air breather over the intercooler & off to the left side. No bellypan on this yet & the hood starts to get a little tight when you move that airbreather. Same problems that the Yammi's had until the aftermarket plastics. I would like to see a breather up a little higher to get more fresh air.

And yes this is an XR with an XP tunnel & XR Bulkhead.

The cool thing(no pun intended) about the filter behind the intercooler is it will actually pull some air through the intercooler. Should put a shroud around the intercooler and filter so it has to pull all the air through. lol
