12-16 ride

totaled? really?

bulkhead, nun, a-arm and some plastic... I had to put my '04 rev back together from a worse wreck then that and had less than $1100 in parts..

who gave you the estimate?

yeah but there is still a deductible. Doesn't matter my wife is not severely injured and that is the most important thing.

the frame is crumpled underneath and bent in 3 places, the steering post is twisted, the tears you see are on the left the impact was on the right. the right ski sits about 18 - 20 inches behind the left one and the front of the sled points toward the right.

Chief I gave him the estimate. You left out the biggest part of the estimate. The frame behind the can is crumpled and looks like an accordion. The frame under the motor also creased affecting the motor mounts location. BTW, the bulkhead is part of the frame on those rev chassis. Frame alone is $1100. Add up the rest.

Wow, bummer deal.

Scott that's to bad about your wife and I'm amazed she still had fun. She is so lucky and I'm so happy she didn't get seriously hurt. The sled can be fixed.

We all know how a human life can be taken away so easily. I guess I see how so many can be thankful for the outcome of this situation. I know it sucks about the sled, but really for your wife not being seriously hurt is something to be thankful for.

Be safe everyone. Things happen in a blink of an eye.......

Not going to doubt your estimate Adam; obviously damage that can't be seen on the photos.

I had to replace the bulkhead/engine cradle and nun. I was able to straighten part of the tunnel and just replace the extension at the very back. For all the damage done on the '04 when it flipped and tumbled off the cliff and all the way down to the ponds south of Anchor lake I didn't have to replace the a-arms or any other parts of the steering.

Guess it's very easy to have massive damage and two much different repair bills.

In my days of renting I have seen all sorts of damage. Some items are commonly damaged and others I rarely have seen. This is the first nun I have seen that is literally torn off from the pan weld on one side. Aluminum just ripped off. Additionally there is always more damaged than what is visible in the pictures. This machine also had the upper front and rear members bent and uppper member brace broken. I have never seen a steering post on the revs damaged and this one is. Reality is once you start adding up the parts and look at the value of the sled ($3K) it is an obvious total. The sad part is nobody really wins in these situations. The one big positive out of the whole situation is nobody really got hurt. With as hard as she hit the tree and was thrown from the sled it could have been much, much worse. We are always happy when people walk away from these types of accidents.
