09 hawk fest

Snow in billings

I heard on the news today that it snowed so much in Billings that it knocked the power out.
Anything going on in Missoula?

wheres the snow?

Nothing happening in Missoula it seems that storm stayed east of us I heard that Butte, Billings got 20 inches of white stuff. Did go to Tom Beal park and Hoodo lake on 4 wheelers over the weekend and the most we found was 3-4 inches of the white stuff. If you go to montana web cams you can look at Lolo pass too.

Just a reminder Hawkfest is Feb 13-16

I was told that the poker run was only going on Sunday. I have reserved the rest of the cabins at Lolo Hot Springs for the Hawkfest group. Please call them asap and book your room> No credit card required we are just getting information from everyone.
So lets fill this place up first then we will get the other places first.
So Saturday night we are having a dinner and then taking over the restaraunt for our Hawkfest banquet.
Andrew-Skip-& Bud. What were the next choices in town again?

--Headcount again....

Just heard from Skip they are starting to get the white stuff.

Can I get a chime in again from everyone as to who is coming. If you haven't chimed in yet to say you are coming please do so now...

Tam

I am a maybe. I really want to go since it is going to be closer to me this year, but I won't know if I can make it until a few weeks out from the date. I will make every effort to get there.

Lolo Hot Springs was well known to the Indians long before the arrival of Lewis and Clark, among the earliest visitors to the Lolo Pass area of western Montana, in the fall of 1805. It was a mineral lick for wild game, and an ancient meeting place and bathing spot for the Indians. The hot, mineralized springs became a landmark and rendezvous point for early explorers, trappers, and prospectors as well. By 1885, the Hot Springs had become a favorite vacationing spot for both families and sportsmen. At Lolo Hot Springs, visitors today can enjoy the same soothing waters that bathed the weary members of that famed expedition 186 years ago. Starting at Lolo Hot Springs, snowmobiles can conduct their own modern-day exploration, using 500 miles of groomed connection trails. A series of interconnecting loop trails straddle two national forests on the Montana-Idaho border. East Fork, Lost Park, Elk Meadows, Moose Ridge, Cooper Creek, and Wagon Mountain are just some of the trails that lead deep into the heart of the Bitterroot Range, with lots of meadows and play areas along the way. The snowmobile season runs from mid-December through April. The snow conditions are excellent with hard pack snow throughout most of the season. The snow depth ranges from one to three Feet on the level, up to 12 to 15 feet in the mountains. Lolo Hot Springs is at an elevation of 4,160 feet, but the trails climb to 8,000 feet. Special events held throughout the winter are; poker runs, February and March at Lolo Hot Springs Resort.

We totally need to go together Justin ! Going the 2 of us would make more sense than going 1000(ish) km away all alone by myself, Hawk trailer & truck like I did last year... but I really wanted to go to meet all the guys out there !

'07 HawkFest in Massif-du-sud, Qc (the day I seized the fan side cyl of my 503 and got towed by a crazy Fnckn guy with a 4-stroke yammi...)
'08 HawkFest in Mt Baker, Wa (the day I brought back tony's 600 that had a bearing failure, Tony towed me with a renthal fanner Poo, no light, what a good souvenir that is...)

Besides all that, I want to say to everyone that Hawkfests are such a great time ! The ONLY time in the season you will meet that much Hawker... and have the opportunity to share stories and tips and finally meet up and ride together. It TOTALLY worth the trip ! Last year, correct me if i'm wrong Tammy bt I think I was the farthest away from Baker, right ? I don't regret at all the 2000 km drive back & forth.

...

Can't stop it there ! So, of course, looking forward for...

'09 Hawkfest in Lolo Springs !!! (with no towing this time, I hope !)

I will say it again and I hope participating Hawkers will be in : I'd reeeeaaally like if we can organise a friendly little 20min enduro race. I would like to experience what it is to be, all of us Hawkbros, side by side and taking off all at the same time !!! And of course ride a "track" that only Hawks would have destroyed ! I have a smile on my face right there just at reading back what I just wrote ! Organisers, pleeeeaaaaase make it happen !

Get a track layout figured out around some trees with one climb, one downhill, a couple little jumps so everyone can do it, offcamber turns, chicanes... Looking forward for a positive answer on that !

A different layout will definately yield trials events

So can do these events:
enduro,
night time event
a fastest from the start race,
maybe a skills test,
hill climb,
then other prizes for differnt mods, and other things.

I also encourage people to bring their items that they manufactur for the Hawk. I want to do a mini trade show, not only to show off what you do but to show your story. Each one of you incredibly unique people have their own stories as how they came to the hawk and how they ride and how they address different machine needs.

I am going to drive over in the next couple of weeks to try and get a stronger feel for the area and buy some local maps.
Also there is a major hotel in town if people don't feel like staying at the hot springs, very reasonable rates. If you simple type in lolo under a hotels.com it comes right up.

I invite all of you to pick five events for riding and vote on them. One event will be a night event and the other four should be during the daytime...
I will even buy trophies for you guys!!!

Sorry Thierry, But Ibbroken and I are gonna whoop you for the farthest to travel. We almost didn't make it because we would have been a weekend LATE. Thanks to Tony calling me and letting me know we had the wrong date's we were able to change time off from work and still plan on being there. We have one small snag, but I think we can work it out. Ibbroken's dad was going to haul our Hawks down but He was in a accident and his Semi-Truck was Totaled. Fortunatly he is OK (thank the Lord) but he won't be driving for awhile so we have to find another way to get the hawks there. Hopefully one of the other drivers will do it for us and all will be good.

Hey CJgodden,
I probably won't be able to make it down for Hawkfest, but when we get some good snow here, we need to hook up for a ride. I'll be rockin' a 136" ZX2 this year and still debating on the chain drive. TTYL

Frontier Films---

I just got confirmation that Frontier Films will be joining us for Hawkfest. I asked them to come because they have been supporting the cause since day one. They joined us for Hawkfest several years ago but the snow was horrrible that day.

So polish your skills and your sleds ;)

Anyhow Aaron will be joining us and he is a great guy.
I invite each one of you to visit his website and send him a message through the contact section telling him a big thank you for joining us.

Thanks guys,

Tammy
