montana 09 snow hawk festival

Since Tammy has given Skip the reigns on hosting this years festival, I'm going to try and assist. Bud and I decided at the end of last winter we should have a snow hawk event here in Montana so that everyone who wants to come out can enjoy the type of riding we get to do. I promise you all no matter where your coming from you won't be dissapointed. Today is September 25th and we are already talking about this years riding, how exciting. We will have some lodging info soon if you want to book a room in advance. The days inn in Lolo has offered a discounted rate if we get 10 rooms or more. The days in does not have a bar or lounge but there is a bar about 2 blocks called the Hayloft, you can eat there too. Skip and I will be checking with the hot springs on the hotel, cabins on sunday maybe they will give us a discount as well. Bud does have a few snowhawks and he has rented them out in the past so if anyone is interested in reserving one let me know and I'll get you hooked up with him. Also parking passes and riding permits will have to be purchased and we have always bought them at the Lolo hot springs in years past. If anyone has any questions you can email me at andrewhaycook@msn.com PS attached photos of the Lolo pass last year about the time the fest is planned for this year.

Well there is a really good chance you all will be able to see the chain drive system in person, we have figured a way to get our hawks to Great Falls, MT. And Alaska Airlines has a flight there also so It's looking really good. The big bonus is shipping won't cost us anything and I have plenty of airmile's to cover airfare so it wont cost us a fortune. Now we just have to figure out how we are going to get from Great Falls to LoLo Hotsprings. We are thinking about maybe renting a Uhaul, then the hawks would have a enclosed area to keep them safe.

Need a suggesstion

I want to rent a lookout for Saturday and Sunday
This could be a good base of operations out in the woods. A place I can cook you guys lunch, a place to hold fuel, a place to get warm. A place to provide medical attention if needed a place to hang out.
I would like your suggestions as to two lookouts to rent for both days.
Any suggestions from the local crews.
The forest service websites have some great places listed.

Thanks for the offer Tami but unless Tony wants to go out of his way and come and pick us up in Great falls, we are going to need a way to get us and the Hawks from Great falls to Lolo. Thats why I was thinking a uhaul. Its enclosed, It will be considered a local rental so it should be fairly inexpensive. I'm open to a better suggestion If any locals have any, or wouldn't mind hitching a ride if some one is willing, I just don't want to put anybody out by going way out of there way to get us. It will be myself, my hawk, Ibbroken and his hawk.

Ibbroken's dad is a truck driver by trade, He runs freight between Great falls and Alaska. So he can just put the Hawks in one of his loads.

Hey guys , greatfalls is about 175 miles from lolo , thats awsum you can get that close with everything , my shop is about 10 miles from lolo so if we need to meltem and work on em it we can do it there and then also in lolo a the hayloft bar and resteraunt they have a big parking area where we can shuffle and load trailers and leave rigs to go ride and its only 25 miles to the hotsprings from there !

Tammy the warming hut is a short ride from the Lolo pass and would be a great spot. There is a wood burning stove, wood, a grill/kitchen area to cook and his and her outhouses. The best thing is its free to all. Let me know if this will work. Andrew

Gary---do you have something you want to announce to the group

Just got off the phone with Tony and I have to say I just about jumped off my seat I was so excited!!!!!!!
