'08-M1000 or '08-XP? Unbiased opinion...........

Have you ever ridden a XP? It's a whole different ball game. I'm not saying it's bad but it would take me at least a season to get used to it.

Okay here is my input, I have always ridden Cats, Checked a 09 M10 Snopro, rode it three times and sold it, Now I have a 08 Summit 154 havent even gotten to ride but its gotta be better than the cat, I was so disappointed in it plowing snow an never knowing if I could turn when I needed to. Mine was a submarine!!!! Life is to short and they made to may sleds not to try out. Good luck either way you go.

I will probably throw you for a loop on this one....I rode a 08 XP and loved it....but it took a bunch of work and $$ to get it running right. I am now on the 09 and it is much better. It depends on the Mod's that each has. Sounds like the 1000 doesn't have much because it has very little use. I ride with a bunch of guys that have 1000's and they are solid....only had one dog in the bunch and I think it had problems before he bought it. Ton of power out of both..just different riding styles. Can't go wrong with either one but if I had to put all the work and $$$ into setting up the XP I would go with the 1000.

Hopefully my brother won't see this post....he'll let me have it : )

I would go with the M10. I had a 900 and loved the torque. The cat will feel very similar. I personally can't turn the Doo but ride with others that can make them dance. The Cat will be a more seamless transition in both power and handling. And the 500 bucks savings can go a long way towards any mods you might want in the future.

Look on the bright side, you are choosing between two great sleds. Hard to go wrong.

First off, I am a cat guy. That being said, I rode an M1000 this winter and I couldn't get far enough away from it by the end of the day. I was dreaming/begging to ride my old 900. The steering of the M1000 was so heavy that after a few hours my whole upper body was just worn out. I'm about 190 as well and unless there is some way to lighten that thing up, I'd rather ride my son's '96 Powder Special!

I can't speak of the XP and I've never really been a fan of theirs. I rode an M8 though and I loved it! I'm just saying; don't go with the M1K until you've thrown a leg over one and wrestled it around for a day. Maybe you'll like it. I just didn't.

Actually, since you and I talked a lot when we owned our RX1's, I'll give you a different opinion. I wouldn't get either of them and I'd buy a 06 or 07' Rev for cheaper and have the best chassis ever made. A little less power than the m1000 on the top end but if its clutched right it isn't much difference.

The Rev platform will feel a lot like your old RX except it is about 100lbs lighter (I am talking about the tippy feeling which makes for a great carving machine). At the end of this year I'll have well over 5000 hard miles on mine and my warranty will be up. Looking at what is available out there, I think I am going to stay with my 07' and just keep rebuilding the motor (and maybe add a blower). I absolutely love my sled! The only reason I would buy a new sled is to get a new warranty but for how much extra it will cost, I could afford to rebuild the top end a few times.

Deals are everywhere right now so why is it between the m1000 and xp? Why not buy a sled that really feels good to you. Get you arsk up here to Baker and I'll let you ride around on my 163" and you can decide for yourself. Very fun sled to ride.

Not on topic but thats my $.02

The 07 Rev is a great sled... I still own one as well..

But, IMO, the M or the XP is a better chassis... But that is just my preference

My $.02. I came off of a ZX and was told thats the easiest trans. when going to an XP. Was right at home and very comfy on it right away. Rode a demo M1k with lots of mods and tons of power. Just on a trail on our way home and I know the sway bar was pulled but had a hard time keeping it on the trail. That m was EVERYWHERE. Could have been the set up but not very flattering for a demo to behave. Probably woulda been diffrent in the trees but I haven't rode anything I would trade my XP for.

I ended up buying a '08-M1000 SnoPro at the last second with full SLP ceramic exhaust, Boss seat, Powder Pro skis, venting, Cutler clutching, BD Box, SLP High-Flow air intake, scratchers, VE rear bumper and Rox riser for $7000. Really happy with the decision I made. Can't wait for snow!!! Thanks for all the inputs guys................

When I bought in 08 it was between the xp and M1000, I decided on the xp. For the first winter I wished I was on the M1000. I went through a belt every ride, had the worst clutching ever, and I fell off the darn thing for the first two rides. My buddy picked up an 08 M1000 that same winter and I have had a chance to ride it often, it makes good power and feels predictable in the deep. Down the bumpy trail to the hills it feels like I am in the rodeo compared to the xp. Now that the belts last, clutching is fixed, and that I have learned how to ride the xp I am very happy with my decision. The xp takes some time to learn for sure, but when you do the fun really begins. If the xp was a blond and the M1000 a brunette....well I like both. I love sleds, now I am so confused.... what was the question?

Good choice, that's exactly what I would've done;) Hope you got a single pipe and not twin though!

You won't be disapointed. If that sled is setup properly the only sleds that will be highmarking you will be turbo's. Also if it doesn't currently have a power claw I would recommend getting one.

in my opinion you should have waited until you rode one of each. I came from riding cats to the xp last year and the xp chassis to me was a heck of alot easier to handle. I came from a kk 900 and was about to buy a m series until I rode my buddies 09 m-8 and that thing was like a tank felt very hard to lay over even compared to the kk so I went with a XP and that chassis is very rider friendly and less tiring at the end of the day, but with that being said it is to late hope you enjoy your new sled if you own a sled it will be a wonderful time this winter regardless of what brand you chose.

I will be getting a Power Claw for sure!

Thought about it but didn't want to wait until every swinging dick was looking too.

cool.lets do a m1000 vs xp this winter:)looser buys elk lake burgers

Sounds good to me..................

I have an 09 XP and it took me a full season to really understand how this sled needs to be ridden, but once you learn the trick rather than fighting it, its a fun, powerful mountain sled.
