Youd have to know the nonsledder mentality of most revy ppl. They are the biggest suckaces you will meet. Sledders bring in TONS of cash to that town, pretty much save it in the winter and all you hear is whining. Our rigs take up all the parking , we scare the 'bou , you cant get parking at the restaurants . They remind me of the farmer who whines all year about his bad crops and when he gets a good one whines about how much work it is to bring in. The towns ppl there have the meca of sledding at thier doorstep and yet this town cant even run a sled shop , if it wasnt for lordco you could barely find a screwdriver in that town. They have the premier sledding event and all they talk about is how to shut it down or limit it. They had the big announcement about approval of the ski hill , saw thier property go up 5x and think they are now living in whistler. Guess again idiots. These nonsledders are about the most annoying ppl I have met. i have NOT met OT yet so there is room to UP the scale.
The club or society have not had any contact to date with the organizers of the event. Just get to hear about it through the grapevine again and on forums. Great start. You guys really think picking up garbage is going to take care of everything.
oh and I have to thank O-Zone for the "Big Iron" t-shirt he left for me this past wknd. at my workplace.
Never been to the BIS and not sure if I ever will but I don't get it. Why would "O" Zone contact you after the letter he recieved in 06. It was clear the society doesn't want the event or Dave in Revelstoke. You collect all that cash for the grooming and don't do any thing to support this event, so it isn't an official event. Just some guy's out in the hills doing things they can do any time they want.
You can't stop it since it happens in a free country so how about getting behind it and helping.
If I have it wrong enlighten me.
How can you deny access to members? They have prepaid their trail fee.

Ya know what, this is what pisses off the locals, fricking attitude. Not the fact that some of you flat landers come out to enjoy our back yards or park in the parking lots.
All it takes is 1 jacked up crew cab with a 4 place enclosed and red and white plates to park right in front of Sobey's door and wham! People's attitude towards sledders goes down.
Remember it's not the people locals hate, it's the ATTITUDE. Check it at the border.
I don't believe the club would ever want to stop people from enjoying the mountian. I do believe it was all the aftermath and fall out they took from the government that resulted in the letter they "tried to give to Dave" at the Calgary sled show. The directors on the board are concerned for peoples safety and the security of the future for the riding area. (If I was a board member I'd be worried about liability)
Pretty wide brush saying "club doesn't want Dave" (Rutt-King ) in Revy. All the people I know on the board welcome sledders and all people alike to Revy.
The money collected from grooming fees didn't cover the costs of the last event, and the $$$$$ lost having the dance that "some people" were saying all the tickets were sold when they knew tickets were still available.
There are discussions on going about RCMP and the extra cost being passed onto the club. More people=more problems=more police=more costs.
The powers to be "government" will be the ones who allow or disallow this event to happen. The club will only do their very best to make all club members and guest feel welcome as they always do.
"If I have it wrong enlighten me" I don't know that you have it wrong, you are only getting the "tip of the iceburg" facts of the whole story. Why don't you call the club and get there side of the story. They are accountable to their membership so you will only get the truth.
Does any body know if parking the trailers the night before the event will
be frowend upon or allowed at Boulder parking lot?

Thanks, very informative. I guess there is more to this than what one reads on here.
I was under the impression he did receive that letter. He had it and I read it so my interpretation was the BIS was not welcome which I assumed included Dave. I just don't understand why the club doesn't take control here to prevent the after math and fallout. They organize other events. Did O Zone organize a dance?? If so, why would the club have to cover the cost's with grooming fees?

I see this event as profitable, it just needs to be done rite. You have people (2-3000 mabey more) that want to see a event like this and would pay 30 bucks to get up the mountain. Give 10 to a charity and call it the BIS cancer fund raiser. The gov is not shuting down a fund raiser and MoF definalty will not shut it down. Makes us sleders look like the great people we all are. Puts a real positive spin on what seems to be looked at through dark glasses. The way it seems now if you go, your going to put a end to our sport. We need to put a positive spin on it so nobody can see it as a negative. The club, grooming society, and charity of choice would all see 30,000 each if 3000 peeps show up. Take out the costs they would still make a profit, wouldnt they? That dosent mention the full hotels, resturants, bars, pubs, so on. I know it would take some work but the opertunity is there to make it profitable.
Oh and did I mention we would raise some money for a charity????
The two biggest probs I heard of from 2006 were ALOT of garbage left on the hill and $250,000.00 of damage to newly planted trees("cut blocks" as powder puff said) from sleds riding over them.People were told to stay on the trails until the top and that rule was not followed by everybody. It was a few making all sledders look bad. What happened in 06 that was so bad?
Wow, the other side of the story. Thanks for sharing.Bobsledder the letter was handed to O-zone by the club president at the time. O-zone did not accept the registered letters from the SRS, the city of Revelstoke, the RCMP, the MoE, and the MoF. All we asked were that some conditions be met before this event was to happen again. Dave is always welcome in Revy and he is a club member this yr. again. The club and society have always said we are not against the event being held but conditions had to be met. We are the ones who have to deal with the aftermath.
It would not be the club or society stopping the event, gov. could step in at any time and shut us down. An event like this takes months of planning to be successful. What is happening now is it is being thrown into the faces of a bunch of volunteers who are really tired of playing the game with O-zone.
As for all the money everyone figures we rake in, as far as I know only the snow if FREE. We are not supported by the city or gov. to run our grooming programs, the club and society are run on trail pass fees and memberships.
Members of the club and guests are always welcome to enjoy any of the other riding areas here that we are continually fighting for with gov. to keep open for us all to enjoy on Mar. 15 if the 1000 rider limit is met.
If putting a limit of 1000 riders on the hill will prevent us taking the heat of 1/4 million $`s of damage done to reforested cut blocks again that is what we will have to do.
How do we keep those idiots out of those cut blocks every other day of the year? The two biggest probs I heard of from 2006 were ALOT of garbage left on the hill and $250,000.00 of damage to newly planted trees("cut blocks" as powder puff said) from sleds riding over them.People were told to stay on the trails until the top and that rule was not followed by everybody. It was a few making all sledders look bad.
It only takes a few idiots to give the goverment enough ammo to shut the mountain down to all sledders. For those that dont think it will happen, things are alot different these days and we could end up with no place to ride if we are not careful.
