If it's as big as the last one theres gonna be ALOT of unhappy people who don't get to go up there. I think they sold close to 4000 trail passes last time and this time I hear they are limiting it to 1000 passes.
We wanted to go but there is to much risk of not even being able to get up to watch.
and me haha i got somthing for them four strokes this year
if they turn you around head to frisby, keystone, sale, begbie, joss, macrae, 51, griffin, eagles or any other of the fantastic riding areas in the area.
then enjoy the party at the regent or rockpit (outabounds)....must be a fawkin touque hangout.rockpit has more of a sledder ring
.
Lets show the community the importance of the past 40 years of sleddin revy and the support we can bring.......if they can see past the toques.
rs
LOC........your sled was fast in Pemby last year. Can hardly wait to see what U bring this year.
U a hillclimber as well?
CM
Hey Mike! What is the snow like this year?
oh ill be ridding mine up im not fillthy rich i cant aford a helli. and as for riding the sled every weekend that is the only sled i have and ride its a weekend warrior lol and ironmans right the fastest sled dosent always win your racing on snow its all about getting the best line and **** not breaking. and the hill climbs will be the best part thats when the tallent shows in you and the sled
so whats the thing only alowing 1000 sleds iam confused?
According to my information, this is what I believe to be true. The way I understand it...this was the agreement they had to make with the Ministry of Environment after "last time" so they wouldn't lose complete access to the mountain.
According to my information, this is what I believe to be true.
The gentlemen that made the decision to limit trail passes to 1000 has now become the mayor of Revelstoke. He has made it no secret that he is not a fan of snowmobiling and that he thinks the future of Revelstoke should rest in the hands of the Ski Resort.
Here is the way I see it. Every sledder that comes to Revelstoke will likely spend about 250.00 in that City (some more some less). A 1000 people in town for the weekend would be 250,000.00 dollars spent in one weekend, and 2000 people would obviously be twice that amount. If the mayor of the City can't see that sledders are truly the backbone of his community, then he has some let down every taxpayer in his community.
I think that the Mayor's office should receive this message and relax the 1000 max capacity for this one weekend of the year.
Does anyone have a contact e-mail address for the mayor's office? I think it is time to start sending e-mails.![]()
I agree 100%. The biggest and most important issue would be to keep the alcohol off of the hill. This would probably eliminate 90% of the garbage issue as well. The garbage on the hill is still the one thing that will continue to be a sore spot with me, but whatever, I will still stop and pick it up.Good point Neil. That being said - the last one was a great show, but the racing and climbing was only part of the show.....watching MM4 you can see all the carnage as they are flying around at the end of the day, and we passed so much of it on the way out it was ridiculous: people with wrecked sleds, accidents on the trails, crashes, drinking and sledding and then driving, garbage....etc. etc,. Like Mike said, leave the partying til after, it was a gong show coming down that hill, we were riding down with the other 100's of folks on the trail and 4 guys decide they are going to pass everyone at wide open throttle going towards the 2nd to last switchback from the bottom (like 70% of the way to the parking lot), forcing 2 guys in front of our group off the trail at the next corner, it was just stupid.
If they are going to lift the cap, then we as sledders need to really enforce the rules up there, and unfortunately, there are too many idiots to be in all places at all times. Its easy to say here on SW, but it seems like people consume alcohol and have a sudden desire to act without a logical thought process. Ensuing chaos then follows. While it makes for a good laugh watching sleds roll off the rocks, its not my style. I'm there for the climbing and the races, not the circus and the clowns.
I think a good solution to this would be to get the filmmakers on board (here's a plug for Veedy - LOL) and film the event and then offer the exclusive BIS video (no other film segments - just BIS footage of the racing and climbing - the good and the badand obviously still having to make some profit or whatever is reasonable - I don't know all the costs involved) and have a portion of the proceeds go to the Revy club. 509 films did this a few years ago (2006) but only charged $5 for the DVD to cover the raw cost of the DVD itself and I don't think anything was donated to the club. I would be willing to pay $30 bucks for a DVD of the BIS, if it meant that I got to see the big climbs and the action, didn't have to fight for a parking space and avoid hords of people on the hill, and a good portion of it supported the club.
Yeah, its not the same as being there in real life but.....
I do realize too that a lot of these filmmakers support and are sponsors of the BIS already, so this may be asking double duty of them as well (not always possible to DONATE everything all the time). I would still buy it for $45 if it meant that $15 of it when to the club (basically the cost of my trail pass but without my physical presence). Its easy math - 3000 DVDs and $15 per DVD donated to the club = $45,000 for the club. Even if $10 per DVD was donated... you get the idea. Just some thoughts that I had. This might mean it is a sustainable event in Revy every year, which would be a longer term solution instead of opening it up to several thousand sledders and then having to worry about it from year to year.
IMO this would be a win-win.
I agree 100% But for those of you thinkin the fastest sled will win... your wrong sort of. If ever I would think I could beat rated R its on the hill they have used in revy. The RACE hill is not level its not straight and its real sh!t show! lining all them peeps up to try and keep **** headed in the right direction. You will have a real challenge just keeping on the pipe, so bring a sled that takes the bumps well and responds to on and off throttle or you wont win in revy.
As for the important part! The CLIMBING, its gona be a blast and the best rider/sled combo of THE DAY will win. Pull all of the chutes cause this one has always been a combination of the days climbing, not like the BD were one chute all day could win it for ya. Sled has to pull all the chutes the others did plus a few they couldnt or wouldnt. Good luck and cant wait!
