your best \father - son/ moment in the snow!

Don't have one.........YET but finally got my back up sled home from the motor guy and hoping to get him out for the first time this weekend.

First time i went with my father was last year and he was 57. We went to Grand Lake CO and the trails were brutal. He steped off the sled at the end of the day and stated "I would'nt ride that son of a beatch back to the top if you gave it to me." He was on a 2000 summit with blown out shocks.

We went back this year and he rode my new summit xp and the trails were in great condition. He stated he has never had so much fun with his pants on.

Not Dad/Son but Dad/Daughter. My 10 year old daughter really started to come on strong this year on her 550 Freestyle. Where I used to wait for her, now if I stop she is right there behind me.

Best moment(s) this year are two.

1.) At beginning of February we were in Hunter's Range - just had snowed 30cm the night before. Flat light - and I am riding cautious because she is behind me. To the point - I stick it about 4 times. Last time, she rides right up beside me, starts pulling her shovel out of her pack and mutters "I can't believe you got stuck again"

2.) Two weekends ago we were at Owlshead, and she having fun climbing (on the face that is east of the little lake by the cabin - forget the name). She gets a little off line, hits a few ruts and the sled goes sideways and the nose starts coming up on her. I expect her to shut it off and roll it, but she holds the throttle open, leans forward on it and gets it to the top. When she gets down - I say something like "little bit of a hairy climb". She looks at me deadpan and says "It was no big, Dad":)

Them best father-son time for me is any time I get to ride with my father.... We always have a blast:beer;:beer; Some of the best times we have had were at our annual CO forum rides, as the women are left at home:eek::beer; It is great to have the time to bond doing what we both love....

Couple of boys

2 years ago my oldest(5 at the time) and I went up to Stampede and got to the power lines. He's riding a 120 so this took some time. We stopped for a bit and was having a sandwich and a coyote cuts across under the power lines and stops....he turns to me and says..."Dad, a wolf"...it was just a great moment sitting there quiet, enjoying the view and he was aware of his surroundings and to actually see some wildlife in that high traffic area, was cool.

Just recently, both my boys were on 120's racing and the youngest stopped for a moment, we all yelled that his brother was coming, he turns, see's his brother and pins it.....the competitive spirit in a 5 yo as he's racing his big brother(now 7)...was cool to see. towards the end of this link..

My father has been riding snowmobiles with me since 13 yrs old, he is now 72 and is still going to the mountians with me. Not as often as i would like but i have to remember his limits.:(

THe vid of your son on the hawk was fantastic!! LOL

Mine was this year......

My 8 year old is finally old enough to ride on the public trails.

We went over to Wisconsin and found some trails to ride. I was explaining to him:

"Ok Tim, we are at a road crossing, now when you are ready to go across the road, look left, then right, then left again. If it is ok to go then go right away"

For the rest of the day, I would stop and "overly" check left right then left again and then go. I would stop on the other side of the road and watch him check about 8 times then gun it across.

Every little driveway that had a stop sign on it, he would stop and do the "left/right/left" thing.

Whenever we would stop to take a breather, he would always say "dad, why are we stopping? we have alot of miles to do!"

It was great fun, himn on his little Bravo 250 and me on my sled. He can't wait to go out again!

I get to ride with my dad and brother almost every time I go out. Its great being able to be out their with my family. Also he is the one that has enough money to have a turbo and he lets me ride it quite a bit. :) The only bad thing is now I want a turbo and need to find enough cash to make it happen. It kinda sucks getting back onto my sled. I feel like I am going so slow. I have been riding with him for almost 20 years now. Countless good times with him.

Two years ago my dad found out he had cancer. He had never been sledding before, but wanted to spend time with his boys. We rode every chance we got that year, best year of riding I have ever had. He didnt make it to the next season, but I will never forget the one I got with him. I cannot wait to share my passion with my son.

yeah my dad works 2 weeks up on the north slope then 2 weeks at home and it sucks i have to work. so when we go sledding its the olny time i really get to spend with him. just me and him no mom or nothing. If it wasent for this sport i dont think me and dad would have been such great buddys. Enjoy your time and never look back.

took my boy (10) out a couple weeks ago and he wanted to ride my d8, he doing powder carves in a park at kings hill, just sat there and enjoyed it, he did too and now he bugs me to get him a 600 155 cfi for next year:eek:
it will be great to have him along more, in the easier areas of course;)

Every ride with my boy is great. Sure I have to help dig him out but that is getting better with every ride. Won't be long before I sit at the bottom and watch him rip it up.
I will be riding with him as often as possible as long as possible.

Chip off of the block

I have been taking my son (now 9) for 3 years now. We started on the farms and have worked up to the foot hills and trees. The first ride this year I took him with my regular riding buddies for a trail ride to break in the new sleds. When we stopped to warm up another guy, My son decided to go boon dockin' in the trees. In the span of 20 minutes, we pulled him out of 3 trees. I must say that was the best to see him do some good old tree riding. I usually take him every Friday afternoon so that I can justify riding all day on Saturday with the guys. A few more years and he will be right there with me, he just needs some more lead in his shorts so he can boss the sled around better!!!

I have been riding sleds since I was 4 or 5(now 15). I loved riding our sno-scoot around the farm, especially with my dad. I've been working with my dad on the farm since I was 6 or 7 and recently bought an extended pro-x.

For the past two Christmas's my dad has taken my brothers skiing/snowboarding out to montana. We would then go back to ND and go back to montana snowmobiling, this time with two of my friends. Both of the snowmobiling trips have been to cooke city and we have had an absolute blast. My best memory would have to be from last Christmas when I was trying to teach my dad the whole "standing part of hillclimbing". He was going up a little hill sideways and towards the tip the sled tipped onto him. He then muscled the sled back up onto the snow causing it to start sliding down the hill. He rode down the entire hill on the side... Once he was at the bottom he says "I think I'm doing something wrong"...haha It was a good trip

Way to many good times to list. My boy's are 18 & 16, I have been riding with them since they were small enough to fall asleep on the sled in my lap. They have had there own sleds since they were 4 or 5.
Sledding and hunting are great times, actually some of the best times of my life. I am fortunate to be able to share sledding with my boys along with my Dad.
