I'm NOT bashing, but you should NEVER keep those electronics next to your beacon. May very well cause a failure because of interference. It should tell you that in your beacon manual.
Canadians can and do own guns!
I can go and apply for my restricted license and have a handgun in a month. (depending how long it takes for my paperwork to go through)
A buddy of mine had his own 9mm and shotgun about 3 months after he turned 18.
Everyone is bringing up some good points, but i would like to clarify one thing:

Also, there's nothing to stop someone from putting one in their pack, or keeping one under the seat, etc. We just choose not to! It's a cultural thing. We feel no need, and there is no need, in my opinion.
Not that there's anything wrong with packing heat, I have nothing against it if people do, I just have never felt the need myself, and none of the dozens of people i know that own guns carry them either.

When we do pack heat is on hiking trips, but Grizzly bears hibernate, so we have no worries during the winter.
Also we buy bullets at Canadian Tire, not Walmart.
I have a freind who was packin' in the Black Hills. He was checked for his sled tag, found to be carrying a gun and went to jail. This has been 5-7 years ago and these are the details best as I can recall. Freak incident. Lead, SD This wouldn't keep me from carring it, maybe a little more discreatly though.
cause then we would whine about weight and try and figure out how to mod it for better performance adding titanium here and there or ask what kind of oil works best for the slick lmaoWhy can't the manufacturers put on some secret munitions like an oil slick or mine dropper...when you pass the slow riders, problem solved. I guess that would increase the price of the sled to $20,000 US hahah
So you compared the crime rate of most of Canada (I thought there were only three prairie provinces) to that of North Dakota, Minnesota, and what other sparsely populated states did you use? I am pretty sure the criminals in LA and Chicago would like to be represented too.
But of course, but the issue again is the words bear arms, which back in the day was used to mean fight in an army or a militia. If the wordage is the same as the 2nd amendment how can there be an argument about them meaning different things?
