You gotta be kidding me.

A furnace is a tad more complicated than a limiter strap and a couple suspension springs.

-only if you know nothing about furnaces and are snowmobile savvy. I'm sure a furnace tech that has never worked on sleds would disagree with this statement.

Get a price quote up front and if you aren't happy with it, do it yourself or spend hours driving around looking for someone to do it cheaper and 'save' ya some money. It seem that a lot of bashing of people and companies could be resolved with better communication up front.

and if you act TODAY, I will ship to you FREE (except for additional shipping and handling) another video on, how to remove your key from the ignition...yes sir you get TWO VIDEOS for $99.95 (plus ship and handling).. see what some people have said...

"I didn't know how to adjust my limiter strap and paid $150 to a dealer to do it... if I had bought these videos I would have SAVED $50.. "

CALL TODAY 1-800-BENDOVER

When you call also check out our other self help videos.. like, Adjusting the torsion springs; or Pulling the recoil start, and another favorite, putting your helmet on right the first time...

Hey .. I ordered your video online last week... ..took 9 days to get here. ..didn't include the second video on the key thingee . . ... .didn't include instructions on which side up to insert it in the tape player .. .. . rca cables weren't long enough to reach the garage so I had to keep runnin' back and forth to chek the tv to see what to do .. .wife got mad and started screaming cuz I was tracking snow across the living room rug . .still couldn't figure it out .. . .had to take it to the dealer. .95 miles round trip=35 bucks in gas, dealer charged me 175 bucks!!! .. said it took a little longer than they thought it would and because of that had to charge a little more ... he said something about the strap was too short and they had to let it out a little and the spring adjuster was on the incorrect setting and they had to adjust it and took the tech extra time??? ? . .. so now I'm out your 99.95 + your 24.95 shipping that wasn't disclosed until it hit my card, 35 bucks gas, and 175 bucks at dealer . . . .I'M NOT IN MY HAPPY PLACE!!!!!!

. . .anything you can do to help a brother out?? ? ?

ps..the only good thing to come out of the whole situation is the dealer said my belt deflection was dangerously off and they adjusted that for FREE!!

Guys,

Whether he should or should not know how to do it himself doesn't F'in matter. Dealerships have a service department so that people who don't want to do it themselves don't have to.

The fact that this customer got charged an unreasonable amount is the problem here. Dealerships have a shop rate for a reason....shop hourly rate X how many hours (or fractions of an hour) = price. Obviously this dealers' math doesn't add up.

Well, I have negotiated a solution that I am very satisfied with. I took the sled back to him and requested a refund for it on the grounds that it would just be better for me to get a sled from another dealer (I was fed up).
He told me he would take it back for a 20% restocking fee (over $2000). Needless to say I was furious and he could tell!
So then he offered me a compromise/deal - he would do a service flash (was released in Jan.) for FREE.
I said I would think about it and went out to my truck and called my buddy on my cellular phone. Told my buddy to quickly call the dealership and pose as a customer and find out how much they charge for a service flash on a new sled.
Ha! He called me back and told me it was $110.00
So I went back in and immediately said DEAL.
Left the sled there and they had it done by the end of the day.
Thanks for the input everyone and the next time I'm going to try to do my own wrenchin'.

Well that was nice of them! Ive had two reflashes done this year, one in Mn and one in jackson hole WY, Both free and takes a couple min..

Dude, a reflash on a new sled with full warranty is usually free....

This thread just keeps getting more bizarre. If you bought the sled there recently then the update should be done for free regardless - probably under warranty. This entire topic has to be just to get a rise out of people. I still say name the dealer - that would clear the issue right there.

No effing chit! You got screwed yet again.

HA HA! You have awesome rates and are a very fair Tech. When my warranty is done I know who I'll be going to for the stuff that I just can't do. Like fork seals and such ;):D

No kidding this is almost sad. You have a brand new sled why would you pay for a service flash. You better post the name of the dealer and of the manager there.

Well here at Ripemoff Sales we are ALL ABOUT customer service, yes sir... and since you made your complaint in a public forum, we are sending Buba to inspect your equipment (btw he does not like girls):face-icon-small-sho so he will check out your equipment with his tool and if there is any adjustments needed, he will make the adjustment on the spot and our refund to you will be in the mail (by the second Thursday of next week) as we want YOU to by 100% satisfied... :face-icon-small-hap

I cannot believe you got charged for a reflash when your sled is under factory warranty. And, you and your buddy think its a deal? I would never step in that dealership again. I would also contact the BBB and log a complaint. I would let that dealership know your going to do that. Now, on the other hand, did they quote you a price for the work before they performed it? If so, you should have had the chance to question it then. If you agreed to pay the price for the work you did not get screwed, you made a decision without being informed from anyone who could tell you how easy the adjustments would be to make on your own or with a friend whom has done the work before. I would also call Polaris and let them know you were charged for a reflash, They should love that one.

Well I fix furnaces and good luck getting away with $100 . I've also worked at a dealership and don't believe ANY dealership intentionally rips customers off . HHHMMMM . ???? Worst attempt at a hoax in awhile .

this dealer is gettin you to repeatedly drop the soap and u bend over to pick it up everytime.

1. read the user manual, your supposed to when u buy a new machine it woulda told you how to do the work, unless you are retarded (no offense) anyone can adjust limitier straps and spring tension. if u can;t do that kind of maintaince then you might be in the wrong sport cause dealer won;t come out to trail if u break down.

2. once again dealer screwed u over on the service flash, I have never ever heard of anyone paying for one cause service flashes are a warranty covered issue.

post dealer name, learn from these mistakes and move to a new dealer, read ur manual to save yourself some time and money, and go ride!
