Yooper wasn't all bad w/photos

I was impressed, the Yooper was pretty good this weekend. We found decent off trail stuff just north wand west of Bergland. I would go back up this year if things pan out. I haven't had this good of riding up there in a few years. Running through the trees up some hills just to miss the logs was an absolute riot. We did this on every hill of substance we could find.

Here is a few pics, no trails in site.

That looks familiar! The scenery that is, we did pretty well not getting stuck. The snow had some serious traction to it since it was about 30 something out. You could go up hills, check things out on what would be the best line and then get back into it. Now if only that could be done while climbing out west!

Come on you cool guys, I know most of you midwest people run the U.P. once in a while. You can post here, it doesn't affect your rating!

my avatar is from last April when they (used to be we :face-icon-small-sad) got the big storm.

Would have stayed in the U.P. (Keweenaw specifically) if I could have gotten a job...... but the mountains in Washington will have to do.:D

The U.P. rocks nothing like cheap land, snow, and surrounded by Lake Superior. Not to mention that Houghton has 2 street lights, and a traffic jam is waiting for the bridge to come back down..........

how do you know where you can go off trail up there?

If there is no fence and there is no dirt pile at the beginning of a road it is open game.

Kind of cool the the U.P. is open unless posted while the L.P. is closed unless posted for ohv anyways.

hey rj
we should hook up in the yooper sometime for a ride im up ther no less than 8 times a year love offtrail in the yooper!!

The Keweenaw is great for hitting the pow pow, like skylar said, you cant go wrong with 300+ inches of snow a year

I was up in Yooper country last weekend as well. Right around the Gogebic area in Silver City. Off trail was pretty good but getting tracked up. I love what you groomer boys do but damn I need to get some scratchers on the d7. Trails were like glass in the morning props to who ever was out there at night!

Took a ride up to Houghton and tore up some nice untouched lakes. Had to scratch up the paint and boondock into the good stuff but well worth it. Even did some midwest hill climbing at the quarry just out of South Range, reminded me of the good ol days back in Montana from Jan. Could use a good dump to make it great for next weekend, but I am sure we can still find some untouched.

Here are some UP pics from 3 years back.
