yamaha reliability???!

Has the blown up apex ever been rolled on its top still running with the end result being the sled shutting itself down? If so that does affect the unit, and might be something you could get your insurance company to cover
just a thought

Im a die hard cat fan, and would love you to switch over to arctic cat, but you are definetly losing reliability even going with the most reliable 2 stokes, i think you would be much happiere staying with yammi.

Well if you must go back to a 2-stroke and expect it to be reliable.....you'll have to get back on a red headed yamaha triple!!! I have heard of many of them engines going over 10,000 miles with NO rebuild. How many AC, Doo, or Poo riders have you heard of doing that?????

ok so maybe 2 strokes aren't any better, but they are a hell of alot cheaper to work on., and by the way i still do have 3 mtn max two strokes. I was just really frustrated with yamaha and my stealership!! My dad , my brother and I all have loved our yami 4 strokes and what they lack in ability they make up for in dependapility, they have been great sleds, it sucks to have one blow up when they have been well matained and serviced every year, so what i was saying is if they are maybe not anymore dependable maybe they aren't worth it?? I've never had any other sleds do this and i've owned other brands. I know it's probally just bad luck I just thought yamaha would step up. I would really like them to send someone and try and see what malfunctioned for their own benefit, even if they don't help me. This sled should not have grenaded!

that shouldn't affect the motor to much, I've done that and seen it done lots with no ill effects. those motors shut down for a reason and thats to prevent damage.

When they shut down it is because lack of oil and oil pressure it will start taking its toll on the engine that is why you see alot of riders running tethers

That sucks that it happend to you but dont think it's a normal thing. I've seen only a few of the Yamaha motors go since between two shops so it is rather rare. If you end up needing a motor I have a Apex motor with only 300 miles on it. A customer of mine wrecked his new sled and didn't have insurance so we parted it out. It's out of a 2007 Apex GT and it does need a new oil cooler but that is it. $3,000 for it. I'm located in the U.P. of MI.
