I was hooking under my hood and noticed a few filings near my chaincase/with reverse.I am pretty sure that the bolt that is protruding out of the case was actually in the case before the last ride.
I haven't taken it apart yet but have a new chaincase with a new seal.It looks like it maybe on the reverse gear.I am pretty sure it isn't supposed to be ventilated there!:face-icon-small-con

first question:
What do you think happened, broken bolt or did I forget to tighten it and it backed off on first ride

second question:
the dealership didn't have the bearing, does anyone know what the bearing number is so I can go to a bearing supply shop and get a new one

third question:
has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks in advance,
Dave
should I be using lock tite if it isn't a broken bolt.

that has got to be the bolt that holds the bottom gear on. YEs Blue loctite for sure and yes the cover is junk now unless you can weld that hole shut but I think its magnesium.....pull it all apart again:face-icon-small-hap

Thanks, yes its magnesium, the dealer up here gave me a name of a welder that they use that says he can repair it.
I already have a new case,I picked it up yesterday but they sell it just as a case.I need to install the parts that I can off of the used one,I bought a new seal but they didnt have the bearing,do you happen to know what bearing it is?I can go to any bearing supply place if I only knew which one...

Same happened to me with my chain case and ya i forgot the lock tight. So you not the only one. I used good old JB weld and it sealed it up.

Commercial Solutions (403 279 7744) in Calgary can get the following:

These are all the chain case bearings and seals. Some of mine were toast at 7500km.

Upper Outer Bearing (No seal)(chain case cover) NSK6205C3
Upper Outer Seal DAE35X47X7DL

Inner Upper Bearing (No seal)(inside cover) NSK6206C3
Inner Seal (inside cover) DAE40X52X7DL

Inner Bottom Bearing (inside seal only) NSK6205DDUC3
Inner Bottom Seal DAE35X47X7DL

Driver Clutch Side Bearing NTNASS205N

Last time i purchased these it was $67.53 inc GST.

It looks confusing but when you have it apart it makes sense, i think LOL ! Dave you need the Inner Bottom Bearing i believe. I would put all new bearings if it was my baby. Once you start pressing out old bearings you might as well buy them all. Sometimes they don't come out to well. A press makes it way easier !

Cheers

SB

Today I put all the parts off of the old chaincase cover and put on the new cover.
It all went together smoothly, chaincase is all installed with new oil and yes I used lots of locktite on the reverse gear bolt.
I am going to take the old cover in and get it welded and patched up for a spare.
The new case sure looks good though, all nice and clean magnesium, looks like a new sled.LOL
I have my whole front end off, waiting for parts to come in to continue, parts should be in early next week.:face-icon-small-hap
I'm going to have to go for a ride next weekend...lol...I just hope all the landmines are good and buried!!!
The weather reports sound favourable, anyone wanna hook up??
