everyone on here that has a subframe issue with there nytro is out of luck.I spent two days and about four hours on the phone between two dealers and three customer relations people at yamaha. The two dealers were pulling for me and trying to get the thing warranted , but yamaha is saying any bend or damage to the subframe no matter how minor and they will not stand behind it. I bent mine the first ride out 40 miles, didnt even hit anything to my knowledge, I was on groomed trail breaking my sled in never even left the road, I took it to my locale dealer they said they would handle it , the part was on backorder as you all know, so the rep told the dealer to straighten it so I could keep riding till it became available. They did with two three foot pry bars which in turn bent my A arms, so now I have a bent subframe and a set of bent A arms none of which is being covered by Yamaha. My sled is at the dealer torn apart with the new subframe on it, when the dealer talked Yamaha he found out no warranty, so who do you suppose is left holding the bag (ME). Even if I spent the money on the new subframe since the temporary fix per Yamaha bent my A arms nothing will line up with the new subframe. This is my first yamaha sled and all I hear on here and everywere is how good there customer relations people are, but honestley this has been one of the worst experiences involving warrenty I have ever had. The dealer who has my sled now has three of these subframes sitting at his shop, he ordered three after Yamaha told him that they had a batch of subframes that were improperley welded so they were weak, defective definatley warrented, now they are changing there story. Just figured I would let you guys know before you drop yours off. If this is how yamaha treats there customers then I wont be a fan for long. Yamaha also said that any frame fixed already or going to be fixed they were going to inspect each frame and any bending or twisting which signifies an impact, the customer would have to pay for, someone explain to me how a metal piece bends without an impact, even if it is a minor one its not going to happen on the trailer. Anybody with some pull with yamaha I would appreciate some help, I am sure we all would there is enough of us on here with the same problem, obviousley there is a weak spot in the desighn

Sounds to me you have a retarded dealer. Who had the briliant idea of putting a pry bar on the A arms to straighten a subframe? If the dealer bent the arms he should eat them. As for the sub frame I have heard of some bending without impact, but mine required a rather impressive impact to bend, but even after the bend I put over 500 miles on it before the new one arrived with one ski 6" ahead of the other. When the part came in I replaced it and it continues to hold up well. I am sorry for your pain, I think a new bark buster front end and a CRomolly front subframe would cure your problem, but might dent the beer fund a bit.

I will check into this for you and reply some time tomorrow.

I have about 350 miles on my current Nytro and can honestly say that it is holding up to some pretty good bumps and thumps.

Cruising down a groomed trail...............and ran into a mile post!
Come on, they dont just bend themselves, what did you hit?

We are not Yamaha, you can tell us....

mine sub frame has been bent for a long time, i think since about 40kms, well i ended up boondocking with her and hit a couple of dead trees that were just in my way, problem solved now there strait, but i have run into a few guys that are running the new nytro around here and they all have one ski thats about inch or two ahead, i was just waiting till the end of the year to see if it was going to turn into a recall, but i guess thats not going to happen and do any of you know were to get the cromolly front sub frame? if so pm me thanks

jscc I can honestley say I did not hit anything other than mogles and snow burms, I wasnt even aware it had happened till we got back to the shop that night and three of my buddys were looking it over because it was the first fourstroke turbo in our group, that is when we discovered one ski three inches back from the other. There was no sighns at all of any impact sights, I even questioned were I bought it to see if they had dropped it in the box, what do you think they said noone is accepting anything so It falls in my lap. I even asked Yamaha to have their engineers look at my old subframe and see if it was defective and they straight up told me no matter what they would not warranty it if it was bent. Dont get me wrong if I had center punched a tree I would not be expecting Yamaha to warranty this, that is why I have a hundred dollar deductable on my insurance, but it is just the principle of the situation, and the over all way they handled it. This is the purpose of a warranty to fix issues like this.

Not trying to throw salt on the wound but, mine is being fixed under warrenty. I'm still in disbelief to be honest. I was expecting to have to put up a huge fight(which I did) and get nowhere. They are actually paying for it. I don't understand the story myself though.

1st off: I can honestly say I hit nothing. I took it in at the end of the season because I could see something was bent. I thought it was just the subframe. Turns out the subframe was bent, lower ball joints shot and both spindles were bent. They completely inspected everything and said they can find no evidence that I hit something. After 2 weeks of argueing with the dealer, Yamaha and the district service rep here's what the came up with: they are paying for the subframe, ball joints and install. Here's where it gets fishy: I have to pay for the spindles. Here's exactly what they told me: "We can find no evidence that you hit anything so we will pay for the subframe, install and balljoints, but you must have hit something to bend the spindles like that so you have to pay for those."
Are you F'ing kinding me!!!:confused:!!!! So what's the deal???did I hit something or not. To me it sounds like they are asking me to feel sorry for them and pay for the spindles since they have to shell out so much for the subframe. I don't get it. This is no joke. At the time the dealer talked to me I didn't say anything because, to be honest, I was just happy to hear they were gonna cover the subframe, but quite franky when I go to pick it I am going to question this. It doesn't make sense. We'll see. I'm hopeing it's going to be done soon. they are just waiting for parts.

All sounds bad to me. Usually bending parts means it has been pushed beyond design tolerance. Seems odd yamaha would have a handful of weak frames floating out there. Also weak welds would crack not bend. As for the dealers they are probably trying to resolve the issue with you beyond what yamaha is willing to cover. Maybe you guys hit some dead fish under the snow.

Skidoomutt, that sucks. We had the same deal with our 05' Revs. Luckily, our Nytro has over 1000 miles on it and looks good.
Sounds to me it's another dealer issue. I always find it interesting that one dealer always gets things done, while another will push it off and claim its not covered.
Been there, done that. I changed dealers.

I bent my frame too, I can honestly say that I hit a rock so hard I flew off the sled and the sled rolled down the hill, the spindle was even tacoed. I just orderd a new subframe and put it on myself, with a timbersled front end, and I have not had any more problems. I was talking to a guy yesterday who had his warrentied from the same dealer I bought my sub-frame from. he had only 98 miles on the sled when he took it back in, so they were able to warrenty it, it took half his winter of riding away though. So somehow some people are getting them warrentied.

This like getting Ford to warranty a dent in a fender cause the guy claimed
he didn't hit anything... so it's Fords fault that the fender wasn't thick enough?

Maybe they are week, some are bending, some are not but as someone stated, they don't bend on their own. I clipped a rock or a stump with
mine the other day, hard enough to eject me and no bending.

Hats off to the dealers for working on this one for you. Defects - warranty work, bends - driver's responsibility.

Isnt this more like your frame, coil mount and shock mount bent, with no damage to the paint, bumper and fender? would that be fords fault?

I have 1300 km on mine, lower balljoints totally worn out, uppers gone to all plastic shims gone spindals and a-arms are loose, but all straight. i ride it pretty hard. and i feel my sub-frame is fine i think there must of been a bad batch of them. did you guys compare sn#'s because if its a bad batch they should all be close. My concern is on landings when suspension collapes lower panel rubs clutch, as a result its all worn through and now i need panels on clutch side. Duct tape works for now though.:D
