xp skid in rev... opinions?

I am putting a new track on my sled, upgrading from a 159 to 163. I was going to just buy iceage rails to put on my xrs skid, but was wondering if upgrading to a xp skid would be worth the extra money for improved handling. The price difference between the 2 really isnt that much.

So my question is, would the xp skid be lighter and handle better on a rev, than the stock skid?

Is it necessary to upgrade a 08-09 skid with a longer center shock or is the stock one fine?

I would like to hear peoples opinions on it to help with my decision.

Thanks for any input.

I did it to my RT to take advantage of the weight loss. Once I got going on it I found a good deal on an Evolution air upgrade. I fabbed the 08 rails to accept the longer shock, pretty simple mod. I like the XP skid better, you get to shake some weight off your sled, you get larger rear wheels, and if you go with the 10 shock update a technologically superior skid for cheap....

I wouldn't without going to the xm track to. then ya would get the full effect that is intended. just my .02

thanks for the replys, I just bought a new 163 camo extreme 9103 to put on it.

The lighter weight would be great, but i am pretty sure i would only do it if the skid has the 2010 updates done and 163 rails already unless it was a smoker deal, i would hate to have to buy a skid for $400, put $600 into updates and another $350 for new longer rails

wwracer - Did you do the rear shock mod to yours as well?

801- I just was at the doo dealership and checked out a xm with tmotion and flex edge. Pretty sweet set up. It rolls over on the show room floor, 10 times easier than an 09xp they had sitting nearby.

Still hopeing i can get all my teeth knocked out and the tooth fairy gives me $12,995. Then my decision would be real easy. Ha Ha

Hello, what is the 2010 shock update, I have heard that it is a longer front skid shock, what is the eye to eye measurement on the original shock and the update shock, and also is there an update on the rear shock also? so what would be the eye to eye measurement on those shocks too.

I have been doin alot of research on the difference between Rev shocks and XP shock and they all seem to appear the same on the Summits except I can`t find any where the measurements of the update 2010 up shocks.

I am ordered and am installin a T Motion in my Rev and will be mounting it to the Rev rails till I can get a set of XP rails or Iceage, got a bunch of measurements I needed from the XM on the dealers floor.

Thanks, Wildcard

MY Tom's E/A kit is for a 2010, my rails are off an 08. I made relocation tabs with 1/8" aluminum to relocate the front shock rearward 1". The rear mounting point has not been altered. I found my XP skid used in great shape for 250.00. There's deals out there if you look for them....
