xp airbox?

By Pass Valve

I dont know about you guys but i disabled the bypass valve since it isnt filtered. I was have a bogging issue from the factory intake so i did the flow rites in the back and then disabled the valve since it was a major cause of letting snow into the air box. works great and never experienced another issue.

I had a twig puncture stock filter sceen, so I put a loosely fitting peice of SLP screen I had over the stock with a silicone glue, when I hit the throttle it would compact the SLP filter , when let off the throttle the screen would push out, self cleaning... worked great in bar high pwoder for 3 days... no pics

Man I just put in those Flowrites in my airbox. It is a mother Fkr to get the airbox on and off. I'll tell you one thing this XP is awsome but is absolutely the worst sled to work on!!!

I thought that the airbox was easier to get off than the older REVs. Just flip the little thingy on top and slide it out. On my old one, the secondary had to come off and then it was a PITA to get back on and sealed onto the carbs. Pain to get the screwdriver in there to tighten the hose clamp that went arounf the carb. The new box doesn't require any of that BS.

Now that you have the flowrites installed your still going to have to find a source of good airflow during deep vent clogging conditions. On area that still clear of snow is the of the right and left panel between the upper and lower latches. The panel angel works great for not holding snow and allows fresh air to circulate from under the hood while other vents are covered with snow.

It comes apart.

Did you know the box comes apart, you don't have to take the boots of off the carbs? The tab that holds the brake line is the lock. I've been off of Doo for a few years and pulled the whole box the first time to put the flowrites in. Once I had it out and saw that it comes apart I wanted to give some junior engineer @ brp an award. I was wondering how I would get it back in there until then.

I was going to put the vents in the same place the other two fellas did but I was concerned about it causing a leaning condition. The mass air flow sensor is in front of the carb air box so the computer is not able to compensate for the additional air coming in the back door. I dissembled the top of my sled to gain access to the main air box. I then found a great spot to put two 2.5 vents and the best part is ALL THE INCOMING AIR will travel through the mass air flow sensor. Also after all the pannels are installed its much more difficult for snow to clog the vents because air is being pulled from all directions under the instrament cluster. I may be wrong about the potential leaning condition venting behind the MAF sensor but I also run NOS and I'm not taking the risk!!!!!!!! By the way it solved the plugging problem. I was in 3-4 feet of fluff and NO BOGGIN!!! Hope this helps.

Thats where I put mine also. it works great!

Where were you when I was doing this????? comes aprt heh, I'll have to look... thx!

Better explanation. If I am not mistaken, your flowrite is in the back of the airbox, so doesn't it bypass the sensor?

Correct, the snorkle alone works for over the hood pow, but still does not fix the cut out if you lay it over on a full power cookie with the inlet in the snow. So I put the flow rite in the back of the box. So between the 2 it compensates for enuf air.

Werks fer me.
