Xm thoughts

I spent a short time on my buddies 14 162XM the other day... and I walked away with two thoughts:
1- the front end is SUPER soft and flops all over the place compared to the Pro.
2- engine braking almost doesn't exist at higher speeds on the XM, I found it disturbing, like the throttle cable was sticking or something.

I'm sure the XM is a great sled but why is it in the Pro section?
Because it's nice to ride new sleds and different brands and I believe every manufacture deserves an honest comparison...but mainly I spent two days on a sled that cost me nothing to play with and I just wanted people to know what I thought about it. I just ride snowmobiles I don't care about who makes it or what power it makes they're all fun

Very honest observations from you guys trying out anXM.I too got a chance to ride a 14 xm and came away with mixed feelings. I did find the front end super soft as well.I did not like the narrow bars and prefer the pro tapers.I was also expecting a lot more motor and was underwhelmed by the etec.It did lay over real easy and I had no issues trying to find a balance point and did not fall off and plant my face.It carved almost as good as my pro.I would need more seat time but I am much happier on my 14 163.

I get into it a lot with people in person about the XM primarily about the T-Motion.

I have both experienced this and witnessed this riding with a few guys on XM's and the sled it fine in soft snow. The problem arises in a situation with say 6-8inches of powder on crust. You cant sidehill it.

Instead of being forced into the snow the track and suspension flex at a downslope angle and in some instances I have seen the whole thin slide out from under the rider. A washout, that others in this thread have described. I have also experienced this.

I feel this design is flawed because it places flex somewhere it doesn't need to be. The only advantage it produces is making it easier for the rider to get their weight where it should be faster but ultimately it is still rider weight directing the sled.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

The XP washes out too, without the flexy susp. I think its a combination of rider position, weight distribution and a whole bunch of little things that give the Pro the ability to hang onto a sidehill in a different manor than the XP or XM.

Just wandering why proclimbs never seem to be in the comparisons anybody got some input!

I have a '12 Pro and last season, I swapped sleds with a Proclimb owner for about an hour. I loved it ! In the first twenty feet, it felt as naturally to me as my Pro that I had ridden for 1,500 miles. All of the top three are great sleds, just pick your favourite flavour and you're good to go.
