XCR 308. or other assault rifle?

I'm not saying the AR isn't reliable. I have one. Just my opinion that the m1 platform is more reliable. I like all guns, just some more than others.:D I'm just a pleasure shooter, never been in a hostile situation. Sounds like the original post was looking for the same.

who pissed in your cherrios supplicate?

I like my socom 16, you are just a little handicapped with optics. The forward pictany rail is cool, but limits you. I ended up putting a fixed 2 1\2 power scout scope on it. Pistol scopes would also work. I have found the red dot or holo sights not to be accurate enough to stretch out there for killing game quickly. Warfare, whole nother story.

My bushmaster m4 and ruger rifles have always been good to me. I guess i better get rid of them based on supplicates raaaaaage.

I always liked RRA, good fit and finish, might want to check out SI defence, newer company but has always built AR's, smaller company right out of Kalispell Montana, but uses all billet lowers/uppers, instead of just forged, and can pretty much build anything you want. They were Sonju Inc. before, hence the SI. Knight Armament has always been at the top of the list for military driven SASS's, I wish that LaRue tactical would build a AR-10 upper, there stealth upper is one of the most accurate built.

If you really have the money.... http://www.pof-usa.com/p308/p308.htm
absolute tackdrivers, but again, you pay for them....

Wouldn't overlook Springfield's M's, super accurate, very reliable, and there longer barrel rifles have updated bases for newer scopes. However, they just don't have the after market following of an AR based rifle, but none the less, hard to beat!

does anyone have one in a 300 short mag? I am not loaded with money by anymeans but i don't mind spending what it costs to have a tachdriver. I actualy was just talking to Sleeping Giant outa great falls. Has anyone had any gunsmithing done there?

you want a tack driver? cheytac M200 intervention....oughtta work

I think that gun is a bit over kill.

I think i am going to try and get an Armalite 308. with about a 22-24" fluted berrel. Then when hunting season rolls around i will get a new 300 short mag upper

I want to build the best varmit/small deer gun i can. It will be built with a 22-26" bull barrel, 308. Caliber, and in an ar-15 design. I want it to be extremely accurate out to about 300-400 yards. It will be built with a zeis scope, and a suppressor (already have the paperwork in)

Who makes the best upper and lower to start with? I have looked at all the manufactures like rock ricer and DPMS, but i think i want to get an XCR-m.

They will be out hopefully in a month or 2. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge in this subject?

Bag it.

Probably no one...he's just stuck on top of that 12 foot soap box and can't get down.

And what soapbox would that be? Just because I know quality when I see it/feel it and don't like to see people waste their money on sh!t? Sh!t is Sh!t, doesn't matter if it works for our fearless leader or for some guy down the street.

Remington as a whole is awesome, they have "The" action to have if building a custom bolt gun, just about every custom action is a round bottom based off of the 700 specs.

tl;dr

I agree. If you looked at a list of the riles the long range shooters use, you would see alot of remington 700s and custom bolts. no others would be in that list!
