Wyoming law requires that all snowmobiles must have either a current Wyoming Resident or Nonresident user fee decal prominently displayed on the outside of each snowmobile.

I bought 4 off the websight this year and it asked for vin couler make and model. In years past i have always bought from bearlodge or elkveiw or arrowhead lodge. They also have always asked for vin and everything.

QUOTE=mtsummitx;3760012]Did you buy them on the WY website or somewhere else?? There always seems to be confusion every year at our dealerships about what info you have to provide since WY seems to change their mind every year. But so far between my dad and myself we have bought 4 tags off the website and have to provide vin, year, make, model, and color for each one.[/QUOTE]

I have seen it both ways on the VIN for out of state. The last two years when we bought them local they have never asked for it (both times at TML). This year I ordered them online for our group and they asked for them.

not sure if non resedant stickers say this but i know the resedent ones do. read the small print on the actual sticker .it says must be placed on the left front of vehicle to be valid . i tried adding a pic of it but i guess i dont get to sence im a non subscriber but its defanitly on there

I believe if you buy your permit locally where you ride, that money stays in that local snowmobiling community. Maybe I am wrong. :face-icon-small-dis

I bought mine in Laramie. I heard the same thing that, that money will stay in the snowy range. I will be riding up in the big horns a couple times this winter. I will have to buy a sticker for the wife's sled too so I will wait to buy it up in the big horns to support them too. I will have to get a sticker for the kids sled. I think I will get that one in Laramie to support the SNOWYS a little more as I ride up there more.

that is incorrect .the money goes into one pot for the whole state to divide according to the bids of the person or people owning the equipment . part of the money goes to wdot for the upkeep and plowing of snowmobile parking lots, forest service and state law enforcments for anything to do with enforcment of snowmobiles. then their is money for the enforcments to purches and maintain snowmobiles and trailers ect. a small portion goes to the bussnisess who sell the permits. any many more things . the state of wyoming controlls all the spending not local clubs or organazions . most of the trail grooming is bid on and the lowest bidder wins.or in many cases the only bidder for a given area

Bicycles

Do the granola's ridding the bicycles on the trails in the Snowies have to have a permit? just wondering. It sucks coming around a corner finding somebody peddling bicycle down a groomed trail.

no they do not buut they should . same with x country skiers if they use the bought and paid for trails from snowmobiles and atvs they should have to pay just as we do .

permits

When we have purchased permits from local businesses, it depends on the employee if they require the VIN #. The application form that you fill out and sign has a spot for the VIN. As said above, if you go on-line to purchase them ahead of time, the VIN is required. If one could afford 100 sleds, permit cost would not be a factor. 100 sleds X $10,000 = $1 million. The person who cheats on permits would probably be the first one complaining about trails not groomed, or no search and rescue team. The money is a good investment towards preserving our sport.

You are wrong.
WY dose NOT ask for a vin # on out of state stickers. When bought at a lodge or store. But thats really not the point. And I'm not sure what your point is with that post and talking about 1 million $ in sleds.
I don't feel Im cheating Wy out of any money. I paid my $35 to WY. I feel I did my part.
If you sir feel the need to donate more I will buy a beer or any other drink of your choice.
But if you are implying I would be the 1st to bitch about the trails not being groomed you would be wrong again. I would be last person. With that said. I would be the 1st guy to give the groomer operator $35 just to be a nice guy.
PS if you drive the groomer in the snowys send me a pm. I have $20 for you next time I'm up there.

You are right there is no vin on the actual sticker that goes on your sled but there is a place for it on the paperwork you fill out. I would assume that the vin is tied to the sticker number. Not for sure just guessing on being tied together. They always say keep the paperwork so if ya loose tge sticker you can get a new one. On the sticker it also says to put it on the left side. The first year i had a sled i didnt want to put it on my hood so i put it on the tunnel. Got checked. They didnt like it. Made me buy a new one. Or they could have fined me. They were nice about it.

No vin required when purchasing non-resident sticker from a permitted selling agent. I believe this one was bought from the Fly Store in Laramie last season.

When buying online a vin is required to complete the form.

Just do the right thing and buy the permit............................!
Boy this thread has gone a long way!:face-icon-small-con

listing of vehicle

That's odd. Below the signatures is a box stating "...the above vehicle is owned by me....". That makes it appear that the vehicle is listed somewhere?:noidea:

Must be an oversight on their part. Maybe they used the in-state registration or online one as a template. Since you are supposed to carry the reg and have sticker on your sled they could match up the registration numbers.
