Write your best and worst mod!!! Help people from buying the wrong thing!

Polaris gauge lifter. Nice to have warm gloves, much easier to see dash.
Cable style ice scratchers - must have - they provide enough spray to keep sled cool and I never have to put them up or take them down.
e- start - NICE - now I want all my sleds to have one!
hotdogger/muffpot - yep gotta have
Poo handlebar bag - decent and just enough space to throw all those little things
underseat bag - small but holds my survival kit nicely

still to come -

powdercoating spindles, bumpers, seat post
vinyl wrap on tunnel

that's about it! Oh yeah - big wide grins from all the fun I'm having with this thing!

Best thing I did was turn up the oiler and add fuel (love the Boony box).
Next best. Stock is awesomely easy to ride but for me the Timbersled add on kit with 3 EVO 3's was the big one that made it completely tireless (like to go fast lol and this gen of air is very tunable) but it took a bit to make the tunnel tough enough (did my own thing).

Powerwise, porting (did my own chewing), then gearing, then 28 dollar mod, then clutching (made my own), then head (SLP with domes changed to match crown of Wiescos and volume) then MNTK kit.
SLP pipe was a disappointment mostly because of the can design (adds heat in the wrong place for this package and the bulky size is a pain to work around). Poo did a good job on the stocker.

Little knick knacks that make day to day stuff nicer. Steering bushings (made my own), plate under the ski rubbers (made my own), storage (my sealed tank bag from my SV650, goes all year lol), an old Doo bumper narrowed up to fit so I don't have to bend over so far to yank in up and out lol and don't have to worry about where to put the tie downs, a capture button for the Boony box helps a lot, dielectric and zap strap everything, protection under the QD (made my own), some pet screen in the footwells, tether switch and pack up the throttle over ride switch, change the steering linkage so the bars turn less and skis turn more (made my own) and the best thing I made this year is a sled bed for my shortbox where everything comes out and goes back in with 1.5hands lol.

Personalizing a sled is fun but definitely not necessary with today's sleds. The sky is the limit but what's "the best" for one may be totally unneeded by another.
Like I don't eat when I ride and my stock bars are still too narrow for my shoulders lol.

Made my own vents they work great but I would not vent another sled ,$28 themo up grade works great ,PA head 13/1 yeah HPS can for sure ,163 track and rail most diffidently ,RSI bars yes,Carls clutch kit yes, MTNTK kit yes , 19/43 gears yeah , powder coated Burdant boards for sure and a muff pot ( never leave home with out it ) all this on a 2011 Assault .
Would I do it all again NO I would buy a stock sled and add a can and a muff pot and save all my $$$ for gas.

13 with RKTek drop in kit and SPS clutching, alt impact 36" kit, dan adams bars. Thing rips, couldn't be happier. I also have not had a bad belt, have not had a blown up drive shaft or unglued a-arms...knock on wood!

19/43 gearing- Worth It IMO, keeps your stock chain too.

Alt Impact 36" Front- Eh... They were cheaper than Polaris parts after I bent one side. I don't know if I would buy them again if both sides were straight. Very nice set though, he builds a great product.

LPIdaho sway bar links- With the Alt Impact front end, my sway bar
cammed over towards the front of the sled and both links bent on the A-arms. I think they are too short for the narrow front end.

MDS weights and spring- Worth it IMO, pulls better in the mid for sure.

SLP intake- This gave me a solid 50-100 RPM on top at 9,000 feet. I was very surprised. Worth it IMO

Home made vents- 36 bucks in material and I my clutches are cool to the touch.

I've spent about 750 bucks this year on "mods", and I'm very happy with the overall product.

If I were to buy another RMK today, I would do most of the same mods. Perhaps not the a-arms until I bent a set, and not the sway bar links.

Kurt's gear-down kit and clutching. 2-3 MPH higher track speed in the steep and deep, cooler belt temps (both), more consistent RPM, quicker throttle respond and acceleration. Replacement belts are $65 on e-bay. A little pricey for the kit, but a good value when you compare the performance gain to a lot of other mods that cost more. No, I don't work for Kurt's or even know anyone associated with his shop. I just took a chance on the kit and have been impressed with performance and "fun factor".

2013 800 rmk 155. Not a pro! My mods where based on the way I ride. In and out of trees, some jumps and as much pow as I can find. So with that in mind my mods where,Arctic fx rap-to look cool and to protect body
Full set of exit X1 shocks-stock rmk shocks in my opinion are not safe. This shock package allows me to do whatever I want, handles good, allows just enough lift to pop up on top of powder, when climbing gives you just enough ski lift to feel safe when wide open, if you want to wheelie out off a bump you can and you can jump and drop with confidence.
Ars-fx A-arms-not sure if they are needed, but I have put them threw a lot and they still look cool and straight.
Slp can-just cuz, wanted little less weight and a little better sound, I think it's a trail can or something-nothing to loud.
Other then that stuff the sled is stock, motor and clutching has been spot on since new, there's only about 900miles on her rite now, I love this chassis, not sure what it is but it rocks!
For next season I am thinking more power, Turbo maybe or perhaps a long rod, depends how I treat the wife this year I guess.

rtk 858 kit

Rtk 858 worst mod ive ever done cant even ride sled with out hitting det 7 code thank god i have a stock 2012 pro. Anyone looking to buy a 2013 with 858 kit cheap

modzzzz

Bad-underseat bag- gets wet and rusts tools, scratches tunnel.
Innovate boost gauge-flutters
Innovate afr guage-sensor goes within 4 rides and they tell you have to buy a new one for $100, no warranty
Aerocharger Turbo- fueling issues, customer service and attitude is horrible
Good-WRP gauge lifter
Mountain addiction tunnel bag
Any extra gussets/bracing at the front of the tunnel and rear where suspension mounts to.

Fox shocks on front end my most liked mod.
Holz rear shock upgrade, depends on your riding area, helps with trail woops.
Burandt Boards, MadFab EZ worked just as well, would not do again.
NXT LVL windshield bag...awesome.
Powder Keg rear storage, unbelievably good, everything stays dry
Balanced Clutch....good
MDS weights, still on fence with these?
Dan Adams bars, think stock is OK.
Corked bars, ok but my hands don't get too cold anyway.
DID $28 trs upgrade, ended up just pulling stat, sold the other stuff.
BMP Can, saves weight.
Extended track 155 to 163, will never go back.
WRP seat, nice but stock 13 or newer is cheaper would be OK.
C3 Belt Drive, works well. 50/50 on doing it again.
Wrap, would definitely do it again.
Polaris extreme front bumper, can't do without, I hit stuff.
Gauge lifter is nice, in powder can't read it anyway...not worth it.
Under hood goggle bag, very nice...
Steering bushings, still a lot of slop, not sure?

Indy Dan Long Rod engine, had no choice, blew mine apart at 1700 miles, nice engine. Do something to top end for longevity.

Next project is a Turbo, ooohaaa!

Mods

I have a 12 Pro RMK 155

Best mods for me have been

MDS Weights - great weight nothing bad to say about them

PAR Head (12.5:1) - also another great mod i ride around 2k, really woke the sled up and runs/sounds more crisp

BMP Fix Kit - Once again havent been dissapointed, have 600 hard mountain miles on it, pulls great and runs strong

Turned up oiler - Same reasons as explained above

The bad

Z Bros "Direct Replacement" A-Arms - Supposively diresct replacent, however from what I found out later they require a shorter shock? For the 2012 year im pretty sire anyway, other than that im impressed with the design, and have held up well to quite a few hits.

Jaws Can - Plain and simple, way to damn loud, but if ear ringing loud is what floats your boat then rock on.

There are a couple things I forgot, I put on the bigger polaris front bumper, OFT racing steering blocks, and (don't judge me) a ski-doo tunnel bag. Trust me, it's the nicest bag for beer and brats I have ever found.
