Wolf Creek Locals?

There are 3 of us headed to Wolf Creek ( staying in South Fork ) Sat - Mon to partake in destroying all the new powder down there. I was hoping there might be a local that knew the area to show us around a bit.

We'd be glad to return the favor if you come up north to RE or Snowy Range sometime...

Yeah right. You'll have to let it settle for a week before the locals would be willing to show you around.

If Dewayne catches another local giving tours on a super deep day, he'll put them on probation!

It was worth a try. The timing for powder couldn't be better so I'm sure we'll find some good DEEP with or without local yocals pointing us in the right ( best ) direction.

There was a guy from Crested Butte that we met on the forum a few years back and he led us on a great ride there a couple times - I was just hoping for similar luck with Wolf Creek friendlies but that doesn't look very realistic at this point.

Truth is: We'll be destroying untouched powder in Wolf Creek this weekend with or without their help.....

I think a 3 legged dog could find "the good stuff" there now. Just get to the TH early and track poach. lol And don't let anybody tell you there can't be too much pow :eek: Should be an epic adventure with a few pics of tit's up na sleds, turbos flying by and horizontal freshies in the air :D I'd wait til next weekend when it will be a different kind of epic!

so... somewhere in this formula, you think that someone who lives near WC would actually WANT to come up to RE or Snowies???

Your math is off!!!!!:D

Hey now, seen plenty of my southern buds come calling when the shoes on the other foot...so to speak.

The real actual Wolf Creek riding is going to be nearly unridable without a turbo for a few days. Sure you can stick to the trail and take turns leapfrogging eachother and dig out all day. Honestly, your best bet is going to be one of the trailheads between Del Norte and South Fork. Riding will still be great and I promise you'll get a lot more riding in. Hope you bring your Harmon HiLift jack:)

Avy danger is gonna be at a max. Pay close attention to your surroundings.

Cant Wait

Got plans to go the next three days. Like Matt said, if it dumps you wont be heading to the good stuff because the pass will be closed anyways or the parking lot wont be plowed out. And if it is open I do beleive its going to be belts being destroyed not all the powder.:D

During the last dump in Dec we hit it right after. I've never dug out so much in one day in my entire life. 40+ times between 2 of us, and we are not talking about stucks you can just roll your sled out of either. Completely buried. Still an epic time but one hell of an azz kicker since the snow is bottomless. Gonna be even more snow out of this storm too.

Wish I had a turbo and a 174 track for this weekend... oh well, see you guys down there! :D :beer;

We met some guys in the lot at the end of the day after that storm. It was their first time down there. Never made it five miles from the lot....STUCKFEST lol

Yep, it will be deep for sure. Like was said earlier, it WILL be deep enough that you will want a turbo. Silverton----50" in the last 2 days. Avy conditions------EXTREME.

Sam

No matter where you are riding down there have your avy gear and know how to use it. Ride smart and be safe:beer;
