Witnessing child abuse

report, report, report right now.............i totally agree with xxl you hit a kid ,woman,or dog around me u willl have started something that will hit back...........
you should also be saying thank god that you saw this .this is an opportunity........and dont forget its the law to report this.....so obey the law and go get the cheap shotn mf's

Whooaaa there people. What's this "It's the law" crap. Reporting abuse, unless you are in certain authorative positions, is a m**** obligation, not the law. Second, "slapping" is not against the law, isn't labeled as abuse in and of itself.

"Transitory marks" is usually the line used to determine when someone has gone to far.

I've read a couple of remarks on here about how if THEY saw it, they imply that they'd start something. Give me a friggin break. Macho without knowledge is stupidity at it's finest. Most folks should probably get there own house in order before they go and try to fix the rest of the world, via "reporting".

If it's clearly abuse, have at it. Call 911. If it's abuse in YOUR eyes, be very careful, because you might not have your facts in order and are about to start something that you wouldn't wish upon a fellow chitty co-worker.

i think that it's probably not abuse, if it was open handed. i know that i got smacked a few times as a child, and thinking back, i deserved every single one. as for the guys going on about better not smack a kid in front of me, i'm with good to go, give me a frickin break. your gonna come over a get all macho with someone you don't know and have absolutely NO idea as to what is going on or has already transpired. you'd get told where to go in no uncertain terms. now, if a kid is beating beat relentlessly, that's a whole other story. but a couple of smacks IS NOT abuse, just my $.02

Personally I would never slap a child on the face, it is not right. Swat on the tush hurts nothing!!! To all the ones who say you better not hit a kid in front of me. Mind your own business. There is a big differanc between discipline and abuse. Way to many people nowadays think that any kind of corporal punishment is abuse and that is B.S. That is also what is wrong with todays youth. To many adult freinds A.K.A Parents and not enough parents. As far as the woman slapping the child twice and should you make a phone call, that's a tuff one. You were there, you know how hard it was and the circumstances, I'm afraid you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. What can you live with. Are you in a small town and you can ask some questions? Do a little checking on your own before you get law involved. Hope this helps.

mind your own business.....the single most thing that is destroying North America ....everybody has an opinion and wants to push it on others .....maybe she had a bad day ...wtf knows..but you are willing to **** a family over that ...

bad day??? so if the mother has a bad day she should smack her child around if he is crying or going off like a 2 year old does??

destroying north america??? the way i see it is, people that get involved in chit that isnt there business is probably helping america.... such as this woman smacking the kid around for being a kid.......

confront them! right there and if they are abusive azzholes you may even get the chance to " defend" yourself alot . If you feel strongly enough about it to risk getting your own azz kicked its definitly the right thing to do.

Was it just a slap and did the kid start crying if he did I bet you think she was being really mean it's amazing what a few tears will make you not see.

As far as the dog comment, I have smacked my dog. Like doing training I tell her sit or stay and she breaks, even though we have done it a thousand times she is always testing you. So a couple good and sometimes hard depending on how mule headed she is, but guess what my dog wins at shows and does what I tell her to and is always more then happy to see me. Unlike most where oh don't hit the dog he is so cute and so soft and we didn't like that chair anyway, not here it's what I say or I know where to get used dogs. :)

I have a 4 year old and 2 year old. I spank them if the situation warrants it. I DO NOT smack them in the face. That is abuse imo. There is no reason to hit a 2 or 3 year old in the face. I'm all for myob, but when its a 2 year old?

When I was younger my mom slapped me hard across the face on a very limited number of times. At the time I would say no, but even later in the day I knew that I deserved it.

When it is deserved there is nothing wrong with it, but then there is abuse, and that needs to be reported.

When my mother smaked us in the face it's not like she wound up for a major league pitch. Nor did it shift your head or push on deep check tissue. She had the ability which still leaves me wondering how she did it. She would have a quick short slap almost like a boxers punch. Only it would really sting and would be fairly audible. You cant tell me nobody here got a paddling with a wooding spoon or a flick of their dads belt across the behind at home. Heck, I can remember in Kindergarten our school had a Weeping Willow tree that if we were bad the teacher would have us go pick our switch and either get a lick across the behind or accross the hands. This was acceptable practice in those days.

I would love to see you one you guys confront me about disiplining my dog.. then we would see some f*ckn abuse.. as for the kid.. my he diserved it.. maybe he didnt who knows.. all I know is there is a lot of young people out there right now.. that needed to be beat a lot more and a lot harder when they were younger!!

No young child deserves to be smacked in the face, period, end of story! :(

I'll chime in here and say you better be DAMN sure it was abuse before you start pointing a finger. When i was a kid maybe 7 or 8 we were at the local gas station and my dad picked up my step brother and sat him in the back of the truck which by all means was not abusive and what do you know some know it all thought they saw abuse. Let me tell you from experince, Health and Welfare doesn't just come over and ask a couple of questions and call it good! By this one aligation you could really cause this family problems for years. We ended up sitting through hours of counciling and my family (mostly my dad) suffered a black eye for many years to come simply because someone thought they saw something. I or my 2 brothers were never abused. I don't have kids and I am all for stopping abuse but having experinced what I did I know better than reporting something to authorities with out knowing whats really going on. You Better Be Sure!

I can tell you one thing.. i'm glad my parents beat me while i was young.. and yes my dad would smack me in the face.. but i was a never think headed child.. but in the long run it eventually steerd me clear of a lot of bad things for fear of getting beat!!

Maybe the age of 2 is a little young to be hitting in the face.. i will give you that.. but to say that no child deserves that.. come on... A friend of mine is the head of a child services center here in SD.. according to him.. some kids should be happy with a little slap too the face... because there is much things worse that parents in the past have done..

If you went up to a person and slapped them in the face, you could be charged with assault...could you not?

When I was a kid, I got my share of spankings, but never a slap on the face. I deserved every spanking I got from my parents.

Slapping a 2 year old in the face is unacceptable. The kid is still in diapers for crying out loud.

I would have confronted the parents, that's for sure.

Fosgate has a unique situation, that I can understand, but if an infant is making a fuss... and that is it... that is totally something else.
