Wish I had stock in Nintendo Wii

What if the guy selling the wii for a profit is an average Joe, holds down a 9 to 5, but every month he runs out of paycheck just before he runs out of month. Imagine he too has a kid that wants a wii, but it just isn't in the cards. And then one day on payday he is in Walmart and they just got a shipment of wii's in and are putting them on the shelf. He has the rent money in his pocket, but knows what wii's are bringing on ebay, so he buys 4 of them at retail price with his rent money, flips 3 of them on ebay for $100 profit each, has the rent money back AND a wii to give his kid for Christmas! Now he starts checking at walmart and target and bestbuy for wii's on his lunch break. He finds a couple more and successfully flips them too, now he can take his wife out for dinner and a movie without busting a budget. Now he can sleep at night because he knows the utilities wont be shut off tomorrow. Will "karma" get him back? Is he guilty of ravaging some one else's Christmas wish because he flipped the wii they were hoping to buy? I don't think so but I bet he is a hero to his kid on Christmas!

There is no holdup. nobody is forced to buy a wii for more than retail, people CHOOSE to. The same people that choose to pay more than retail for them would buy them at retail if they could, but the same supply and demand situation would still exist, one guy wont get one because someone else did regardless if the other person paid retail or CHOSE to be gouged, and so someone else will have to go without. People profiting from this situation arent creating the problem, or even contributing to it, just profiting from it. Viva capitalism.

If he is that bad off he shouldn't be gambling with the rent money like that!

I am just trying to say that it is M0rally wrong to screw people like that. Yeah, they do pay, but they are trying to make a kids dream come true on Xmas! Most parents would do anything for their kids! I, personally would tell my kid that I will buy him one as soon as they are available in stores. Not gonna pay 200 bucks extra for something. Chit, with that extra 200 I could get him a few games too!

I don't pay extra for anything. In fact, I always try to find the best deal and if my kid has to wait two weeks till after Xmas I am sure that he'd be ok with it. I would make it up to him in one way or another! Just my opinion!

If peeps are paying $400-$500 for a wii, I say the dumb ones are Best Buy and Nintendo.

I say Nintendo for creating the shortage.... If people are that frikken stupid to pay that kind of money for them, so be it... Sure, your kid may want one, but what's wrong with telling them NO? Wait until the 1st weekend in January and everyone and their dog will have them in stock.

That's the biggest problem w/ today's parents...their kids are spoiled rotten. Mine, somewhat, included.:face-icon-small-blu

However, there won't be a wii under the trii this year. They got plenty enough chit. I refused to pay extra and was too hungover the last few Sunday's to go stand in line at 4am hoping to get one.

you are absolutely correct. just it is the same thing the oil cartels are doing isn't it?

i've got three kids, we've paid for one video game console, gamecube, about 2 yrs back... we won an xbox 360 from mt dew and gramma and grampa bought a wii for 'em this year... that being said, i'm as guilty as any parent about gettin stuff for my kids... but mostly I try not to get them useless crap... bought the oldest a guitar earlier this year (he's taking lessons now), he's getting a nice bow/arrow for christmas (Diamond Edge compound w/ 6 carbon arrows and a tru-fire release and plano case), youngest is gettin typical 3yr old crap but also getting a beginner youth long bow (the cheap glass ones with real arrows and a case like his brother's)...

personally, i blame grandparents for spoiling the most... they are usually retired and have nothing better to spend their $$ on then their grandkids... my folks are the worst, i still love 'em dearly (as do the kids), but damn... i think they buy more for my kids than i do (that includes clothing and stuff)

No, the "oil cartels" (I assume you mean OPEC) would be likened to Nintendo - they have control over the supply. The people profiting would be more like the gas station that is right off the freeway exit or 50 miles from the nearest competitor - he probably makes 10 to 20 cents more per gallon then other gas stations because people are willing to pay more at these locations.

Give me a freakin break whiner!!

Morally wrong to screw people like that? Are you friggin kidding me?

We are not talking about lifes essentials here. We are talking about a game! We are talking about a NON ESSENTIAL, luxury item!! There are literally millions of toys you can buy your spoiled little brat, instead of a Nintendo Wii.

YOu need: a warm house in the winter, you do not need a Wii
You need: Food for your kids, you do not need a Wii
You need: Healthcare, to get better when you are sick, you do not nee d a Wii

And on and on and on.......

It is just not fair! you meanie!! Well, welcome to the land of free market capitalism PJ!

It is sort of like when a new car comes out that is hot, lets say the new Shelby Mustang that came out recently. Selling these at over list price, the dealers must be taking food out of the mouths of some poor sap who saved up for ten years to buy this car. People want what they want. They will pay what they think they are worth. If they didn't, the dealer would lower the price to what will sell. The Wii is no exception for the moment.

And you A'holes spewing this "KARMA" crap need to get a grip! Karma Shmarma.

What's with the name calling? I was stating MY OPINION and that is all! I never once bashed you or called you or your wife names. I stated my opinion without getting personal! I was hoping that this discussion could stay that way

i agree with pjthemunchkin.what a bunch of fu*king JEWS.jeffc and dieselgeek i hope i get the chance to rip you off someday.

In order to "RIP ME OFF" you must be taking something from me, or not getting from me what I promised you before the transaction.

In this case, there was a willing seller, and a willing buyer, both got what they wanted out of the transaction. I certainly did not hold a gun to the guys head and force him to hand me over the money, nor did he hold a gun to my head and force me to hand over the Wii.

I hope someday when you go to sell your house after owning it for 30 years, you have the decency to sell it for what you bought it for. Afterall, if you charge what the market will pay, then you must be "ripping someone off"

STFU and pull your head out of your @ss!

I was trying to get you to realize that the whole US economy is set up this way. The market (Supply and demand) will dictate what people will pay. If there was a 50 semi loads of Wii's that suddenly showed up in the Twin Cities (For example) and all the stores had 50 to sell, the Craigslist crowd would dry up overnight. Supply will eventually catch up with demand, or a new game console will come out that everybody "has to have", and the price for a Wii, would drop, and drop big.

TO say that this is "morally wrong" is missing the mark.

Have a great Christmas, and I mean it!:):)

I know that is how the economy is "set-up" in this country. That is why the rich get richer and the poor just end up working harder for nothing.
