Right now I am getting a steady stream of PMs that are pretty much ALL traceable to taking the Proxy down.

I have never had a problem before but am now getting an Error 502 Bad Gateway whenever I try to open a thread. Just started happening in the last couple of days.

Around 6:00pm this evening we FINALLY found the root cause of all the problems the Proxy Server had been creating.

So far as we can tell there are now NO issues on the forum, and in fact we have seen a MASSIVE INCREASE in overall forum performance!!

There is one HUGE difference this time.
The guys at Harris allowed us unrestricted access to their server and we reconfigured it!
The moment we implemented our changes the problems vanished.
We now have full access to the server and it's logs and can say for a fact that there have been ZERO gateway errors over the last 5 hours!

Hopefully this will post.

This morning this site was working better than I had seen in years.

Then this evening about 15 minutes ago....when I logged back on....

1) 15-30 seconds for pages to load. Often times the double click I've been using to load for the last year doesn't help.

2) PM access will completely kill IE (Sorry POLZIN) and will shut IE down "IE STOPPED WORKING" . I've tried two different computers, results identical.

3) AND...I'm noticing that each time I log on, I'm being redirected from Snowestonline to Snowest.com.

C'mon man....when is enough enough???

Can't you guys just accept that you were lied too. The whole premis behind making this a pay site was to improve it. Ummm, that simply hasn't happened. If anything Christopher took your money and ran. The site is worse than ever. What kind of clown makes ads that say they are annoying for free users to see. Really? Who does that but these guys? I have never seen anything like it. Anyone fool enough to give them money deserves what they get.

Thats OK now.
There is NO need to log into snowestonline.com any longer.
We have fixed that issue 100%

www.snowest.com/forum is now EXACTLY the same as www.snowestonline.com/forum

You can use either of them interchangeably, but we will move you over to snowest.com

WTH, this is the 5th time trying to post about problems with this site and using Firefox.

5th attempt now using IE to see if it will go through.

Chat box won't load or takes forever to load. Even with multiple refreshes, it still doesn't work.

Don't know where my 1st attempt went to relay this problem and the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th attempts said the post was too short with as much typing as this post has.

Things worked fine while using "snowestonline.com", but now things are jacked up again using "snowest.com".

I guess Merry Christmas to us. Change is not always a good thing.

I am happy to report that you are now the odd man out.
The issues we have suffered through over the last couple months are GONE.
No doubt in my mind but that the forums are running FASTER and SMOOTHER than they have in YEARS...

And I have the internal Logs from the servers as well as numerous E-Mails, PMs and chat box comments to verify it.

I don't know whats going on with your PC, but I am pretty sure, this time, that it is something on your browser and not in the forums for a change.

So far as we can tell its working FINE.

CHAT BOX is working FINE

Internet Explorer is working.

There is not a single recorded GateWay Error in the last 48 hours.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Vista and Windows 7 use User Account Control (UAC) so Notepad must be run as Administrator.

1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories

2. Right click Notepad and select Run as administrator

3. Click Continue on the "Windows needs your permission" UAC window.

4. When Notepad opens Click File -> Open

5. In the filename field type C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
(if you do not see the hosts file, change file type in the bottom right corner from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"

6. Click Open

7. Add the following line to the bottom of the file
66.232.90.183 snowest.com www.snowest.com snowestonline.com www.snowestonline.com

8. Click File-Save

9. Reboot your system.

Then try accessing the forums directly at
http://www.snowest.com/forum/

If you used this workaround from a few weeks ago, you will need to REMOVE IT NOW.

I tried to reply with Firefox that the chat box still isn't loading after a computer restart. The reply was in this thread, but I got the above message when I hit submit. I'm using IE right now to post this. Something's goofy for sure. Pretty obvious I typed more than characters.

Edit: I never utilized that workaround.
