WHY!!!!

Boy am I glad we got that all straightened out!

If I have any more problems I am going to post them, then they won't be true and I can keep riding... Might be on to a new "fix kit" there...Can I sell it?

Sorry if it annoys you that some do not have issues.

MH should create a new section for all whiners and complainers. This will help sort the constructive/ informative posts from the "I hate Polaris" posts that have no solutions just crying, whinning and complaining

Sled Brand Verses Women analogy

Sleds are like women, they all have their issues! But when it's good- it's really good. But when it's bad- it can be hell! So make your choice Sled Brand or Woman it doesn't really matter, even the best one in your eyes has an issue or two to deal with from time to time. To say one may have more issues than others may be true but the next guy may not have any issues with her at all, in that case maybe it was you? Same with sleds, one brand may fit you better than others. Doesn't mean all the other brands are pieces of shat. Just because you found the woman you want to be with for life does not mean all the others need to die. People change, preferences change, styles change, if it doesn't work out in the long run with that Brand or Woman you don't want to have eliminated all your other choices / options. Get real gentleman, competition is healthy in both arenas. So relax and enjoy your choice, both of them!:yo:

What like the retarded brakets that Cat came out with becuse the front a-arms were breaking.

All sleds can have issues. When we are seeing the high power to weight ratios, complicated electronics and the % of average failures in anything mechanical, its really suprising there are not more problems.

I moved away from a Edge in 2004, moved to a M8 in 09, bought another M8 in 2010. Now I am back to the Pro in 13.

Things break, parts fail and wear out, designs can be great or poor and just like two identical cars one built on tuesday the other on friday afternoon, some just suck

I will testify that dub is 100% accurate in his statement. I personally was riding with him on both occasions.
His '09 broke a skirt at 12xx miles and his '11 broke a skirt at 12xx miles. Coincidence?? I don't think so. Polaris engine engineering is F'd up.
Short rod, long stroke, piston bangin' POS!
Oh did I mention my '09 did the same thing, scuffed and seized, not broke but same issue. New Millenium Cylinders, MTN TEK "fix" and running great for 1 1/2 seasons!
Polaris knows whats wrong, just too damn many parts on the shelf.

Agree that parts where out, but nobody really answered the question.. Engines shouldn't blow up at 1200 miles driveshafts shouldn't break right out of the box, electrical issues.. Sounds like that Polaris knows you guys will buy no matter what so it doesn't matter what falls apart.. I don't bleed blue or green I just ride what will get me home at the end of the day wether it be a Cat or a Yamaha neither has left me stranded. Yes Yamaha is heavy but they are bullet proof.. Cat had some belt issues last year that problem is gone I know people are running the 083 belts having no issues what so ever.. So I don't feel the need to spend $190 on the 084. I really don't see why it is the best sled on the snow they have a good design in the chassis but are so underpowered compared to Cat or Doo....

Annoys me... No way not at all, I think it's great, I love it.... 4 complete motors in a little over 2 years, anoooyed, no way!

Could you ask MH to do that for me please.

Remember when you read a topic like "WHY"!!! You are bound to get some negative comments. Not annoyed at all????

You know what's weird? You always here of the bad stuff but not the good (and don't say there isn't anything good about the pro because we all know there is). There is A LOT of pro's out there with well over 1200 miles on them without an engine failure.

Lets not all forget these things cost a freaking heap of cash these days! Not to mention the cost of belts (way over priced), oil (somewhat over priced), gas and a marriage counselor. A guy works all week and wants to ride. Finally gets to go on the weekend and his new or nearly new sled is being towed out. Rant damnit! Rant! I'm right there with you!

Get Used to It

I think as Americans we tend to delude ourselves over quality. This argument is no different than FORD, Chrysler and GM in the 70's and 80's until the Japanese came along everybody just put up with garbage build quality. Because that's all there was. Just like now. Buy your junk, cross your fingers and hope you don't have any problems.

What an awesome Made in America, with Mexican and Canadian parts value proposition!!:face-icon-small-con

Whenever I buy any new sleds I troll these forums and see which sled brand/model has the least amount of problems or problems that can be fixed for the least amount of money and I purchase that sled.

Until Yamaha decides to get into the mountain sled market in a serious way we will get junk fit and finish, build quality and version 1.0 product releases.

To pretend that the top three don't have a captive audience of suckers (me included) would not be realistic. There are literally thousands and thousand of genuine SNOWEST posts regarding all sorts of quality, mechanical, electrical, structural problems that we all know to be true.

We wouldn't even have EFI in our sleds if it wasn't for the EPA. That's how forward thinking the big three are.

I propose a sample survey: what NEW first year snowmobile engine would you buy for your sled:

1/ In-house designed and manufactured Polaris CFI:nono:
2/ In-house designed and manufactured Suzuki EFI:D

Yes, 1200 miles is a good benchmark for the CFI 800:face-icon-small-win

That sucks no doubt. I understand you want to make eveyone else annoyed.

Hey MH, can you help dub out and try and set him up with a discount on MTNTK kit. I know it is a bit more than what a wrap costs, @ 585.00.

Something does not seem right when a Pro loses 4 motors, you must ride like a madman and rack up some serious miles in 2 seasons.

Why because they are all to weak and unreliable for what we pay for them.
Here is a good one
Talking to the neighbor today and he has broke the rails on 2 new m8s in 15 days. The first one the rails broke while he was doing 50 mph. The end results were ugly. He stabbed his track and cartwheeled for a good ways. Pretty much totaled the sled. The second one the rails broke in under 1000 ft. He said he heard them break and stopped no other damage was done.

This conversation is pointless. I ride them all, don't matter the brand. RIDING all the sleds and digging the differences, good and bad, is what its all about. Don't forget they are all SNOWMOBILES. (Dooming and glooming over the crap southcentral Alaska winter so far.) 550iq

Wow, I've owned all brands and I would say I've have the best luck and trouble free miles on polaris. As far as the new rmk, I don't think there's a better sled out there! They all have problems/issues. Preventive maintenance is the key, and if you beat the **** out of your sled it will break. This is real life, not a sledneck dvd:face-icon-small-hap

I bought a 2010 Yamaha Nytro...turboed it...bent a set of handle bars...and have had no problems...on hte other hand i have had 2 800 poo's that have needed the fix kit...numbers dont lie.:face-icon-small-coo

I don't usually post to these types of threads (but I put myself on break for a minute since I just smashed my thumb out in the shop....its nice to own your business) anyway here are my thoughts. Sleds have been breaking since the first idea of a snowmobile first came out and they will continue to break long after we are all gone. In recent years I don't think that the issue is sleds breaking but more so that the average guy can't repair his own sled anymore. Parts prices are up, warranty repairs, EFI systems are complicated, new fastening/bonding systems and new materials in general leave guys no choice but to be at the mercy of the dealer. In years past if a sled ran lean/rich you could re-jet for under $20 now you have to have an EFI controller which cost quite a bit more. Same idea if you burned down a topend it is something you could fix with a good set of tools an a manual in your garage. I know I'm comparing new to old but the point I'm trying to make is THIS IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR LATEST AND GREATEST, the technology packed in the design of these sleds is more complicated then ever there for repair time and cost goes up as a result. Its just a matter of either do something about it, suck it up and pay to have something done about it or take your sled and go home. Ok I'm done ranting, now here are some of my favorite quotes

"They're all toilets they just flush a little different"

"S.L.E.D. Spend Lotsa Extra Dough"

"Fuel Injection is good for two things....headaches and running upside down"

There is a fine line between having problems with a sled, and just dealing with downright lack of proper design. Piston to cylinder clearance is a huge part of a motor, if not the most important. Quality control should be going up, not going down.
