Why wear body armor?

Because you will never see it coming.
You may even be going exactly where someone else has just gone.
Saturday, snowies, 20mph to 0mph in 2'.
Flattened the handlebars and riser to the dash.
The only thing on me that was hurt was my ego.

That was brutal! The suspense leading up to the dismount was killing me. Man, better than a Hollywood flick! Glad you're ok:beer;

Rock? That thing jumped out of nowhere.

Actually it was a chunk of steel.
Around Albany Wy the forest service uses steel gates to close off old roads to 4x4, motorcycles and atvs. In the winter sleds are allowed to travel em It's a great way to get away from the groomed tails fast. They are typically hidden under the snow and most people just cruise right on by em.

Anti-hero's ski went just to the outside of the piece of steel my ski hit.
Pretty much shocked the chit outta me. I landed head first in front of my sled. Luckily the sled stopped cold or it would have run over me.

sled damage??

Messed up the bar riser (articulated riser). After I flattened it to the dash it slipped on my the rest of the day. I just need to take it apart and re-grove it.
Tweeked the ski alignment. Have to adjust the alignment. Gotta love a sled that can take a hit like that and still ride the rest of the day.

I wear B-wear body armor. Love it.

Same here! Every little shrub he rode over I thought was going to be it! Good post. I need to get some body armour.

Ouch... Been there, done that; nailed a rock going up a hill WOT a few weeks ago. Landing's the hard part... hit hte bars hard enough to bend 'em and knock the wind out of me.

Or the time I hit a drop that I expected to be about 5'... ended up being about 15.... That left a bruise through my tekvest and cracked the 4th knee guard of the season.

Or the weekly headlight check...

Or the stump that throws you off the side....

Or breaking a ski and going airborne...

yep... Helmet, vest, and knee protection are things I don't ride without. Wear 'em.

x2 on the tek vest. I have already had my maiden voyage over the handlebars, and had my bell rung, and my knees took a beating on the bars. (Klim pants with knee pads = good idea)

yea, I wear knee and shin guards also.
Moto style.
Don't know if I hit my knee or not. If I did the guard took the hit cause I didn't feel a thing.

those wouldn't have done anything for most of my wrecks. Busted 4 of the $20/pair moto knee guards last season, upgraded to the Thor Force guards this year. Already saved me from some pain, and they don't move around nearly as much as the cheap ones did.

Saved my azz a couple times too:face-icon-small-hap
The worst being when I crested the top of a ridge and forgot about the 30 ft cliff on the other side. I bailed and the sled followed, ending up across me at the bottom. Good thing for the tekvest:)

Good Post....Tekvest on the way.

Thanks for the post. Cool video. I went over the bars this year too. Coming down a steep hill, I went off a little outcropping and landed in a hole. Sled stopped and pitched me over the bars and then it started going again (yay gravity!) and it ran me right over. Soft snow so it didn't hurt. Just filled my mouth with snow (:eek:Panic). What hurt worse was hitting the bars on the way over. My right thigh had a bruise from hip to knee for 3 weeks. Maybe I should start wearing football pants with thigh pads.

Body armor

On top of the stuff mentioned, I wear the shoulders pads that Klim makesfor their vest and also elbow pads.

X2 with the Tek-Vest, I had an abort mission when I had a chaincase blow a few years back, took the windshield with me. Glad you and the sled made it out ok Ollie. Polaris Strong:D
