Why do you ride what you ride?

So recently I've noticed how non brand loyal I am. I figure I'll ride whatever works for what I like to do, modability and dependability seem to be on the top of the list.

I see too many times people arguing about what chassis is better, very opinionated. Basically all the chassis' will do the same things with the same riders after they get used to the "feel". Power, suspension, and other mods are really the only things that can affect to what extent the boundaries the pushed from what I can tell. I hated my Rev at first but got used to it and liked it. It took me a long time to get there though. So for people to say they don't like the chassis, that seems like they didn't devote the time needed to "retrain" themselves.

So the question I ask is what keeps people so brand loyal and not open minded to the features of other manufacturers' sled models? Is it really all about the sled? Is it because you've ridden Manufacturer 'X' for so many years and are too close minded to assess other options? Is it because you have a good dealer?

the dealer here is a good friend of mine, so it is a no-brainer for me, gotta ride cat. the fact that he is an outstanding dealer would be another reason for anyone around here to ride a cat. all the manufacturers seem to have comparable products that excell in their own areas so something will draw you to a particular brand. for me it is the dealer. cheers to Rory and the crew at Shuswap Xtreme Recreation in Salmon Arm, B.C.:first:

well this is sure to stir the pot for the brand loyal....:face-icon-small-hap bust out the popcorn. but i ride skidoo cuz i have had only good experiences with them. the past 3 skidoos i have had have all been good sleds and havent broken down on mechanical error (cant blame anyone for user error). and i ride the RT1K because for the money it is the best bang for your dollar. but if someone were to come along with the right priced boosted sled, 2 or 4 stroke of any brand, i could easily jump ship. my .02

I ride what i ride because of $$$. First sled i owned was a Yamaha, second sled was and Arctic Cat, and now im on a Polaris. I like the Polaris best so far but to be fair im sure i will give the Rev a shot.

I ride my crossfire because the motor is bullet proof and i love the handling of the chassis.

I've never been brand loyal to anything. I become loyal to what works the best at the time. I have owned several Ford, Chevy, and Dodge trucks. At the time, each was about the best out there. Things change, advances are made, same with the sleds. I have only ever owned Cat and Poo. For me the Yammi's are just too heavy, and I can't currently afford boost. The reliability would be awesome though. I can't do Poo right now because they are burning up way way to many engines. I love the IQ raw chassis, just don't want to have to deal with problems, or even take the chance. I couldn't do the Rev because it seems like the motors have issues, broken nuns, and flimsy running boards. I have buddy's who swore by them, but they bought new ones every two years too. Maybe the XP is different, one of my buddies rides one now, on his second year and no problems, his dealer seems supportive. The sled doesn't impress me much for being so revolutionary, but I may try one. I just watched too many ZX's and Rev's broken, I can't do that where we ride. I am on a Cat now because I think the engines are the most reliable, most moddable, and I really like the M chassis. Works for the way we ride, even though I curse it on the trail. Wieght, reliability and fun factor are my top three.

I ride polaris because thats all ive ever rode and the people we ride with ride. But thats just because its the only 'real' dealer in town where you can buy parts.:face-icon-small-hap

i will ride whatever runs that day :D i mostly ride my indy lite though because there is no sled out there that is lighter than it and its nice to feel like your riding a dirt bike on snow...

I ride my 07 rev because I got it for 8k - a 500 rebeat, and they only other "last yer model" they had a dealer were some 900 rmks that were to big, and had a bad rep.

I ride my 01 Mountain Cat because I picked it up for a few hundred dollars when my rev was in need of repair and is a great beater sled.

I'm not brand loyal at all. Although I will lean towards one brand more then another. I won't rule out a brand if the timing, the product, and of course the price is right.

Started on a cat (1991 ) and went to Ski Doo. My friend rode Ski Doo and beat the crap out of it and it keep on running. I like my Doo's because I can fix them with out having to take to dealer. When ever I rode a friends Polaris sitting on it just didn't fit me like my Doo's. I could ride Doo's or maybe Cats .I really enjoy my ZX-X chassis if you can't tell by my sig. Also have no Cat or Polaris dealer in town. So for me its Ski Doo :face-icon-small-hap

My first sled was a Vmax got it for a good deal then I changed to a 02 poo 800 good sled. Then i rode my friends m7 and i loved it so i bought a 07 m8 this year I relly have no dedication to any brand i picked my new sled because i liked how they ride and their dependable:face-icon-small-hap

Because I can't afford anything newer! I would love a new Polaris, but for now the GEN II will do.

i ride what I ride... cuz i found some good deals.. like the chassis.. and REALLY like the power. and building stuff is my full time hobby.

what will I call it when its a full tube chassis???

UBR 900 equipped VE Polaris because they run stronger than any other stocker on the snow and parts are getting cheaper by the day. I despise rider forward sleds and love the old school rocking chair feel.
