Who's Running Twins & What Do Ya Think??

Wouldn't lower gearing help that issue?

I imagine as long as you use heat tape and thin pipe insulation where the pipe is close to the hood and other plastics, that should get rid of that problem. Wouldn't it?

i put a bdx intake on and heat taped the hole hood and the wires and any were else the pipes came close and the only thing i melted was some snow until i covered the vents up

I ran a d & d single last year and had similar performance to a stock M1000. This year I went to D&D twin's and they work awesome. For tuning, spend a couple hundred dollars and get your sled dynoed and check the air/fuel at diff. rpm's. My buddy took his sled with D&D twins to Robert Cote in Grande Prairie and he tuned the bd #s close to perfect. He dynoed the twin pipes @ 198hp and 132ft/lbs of torque. Saves alot of time, guess work, and engine parts. Once you have your map, then you need to do the typical clutching, venting, heating taping. IMHO, the twins are worth the extra effort, they do make excellent power and are trouble free once they are dialed in.

Wouldn't lower gearing help that issue?

It could very well be a setup issue, only had the sled a couple of weeks, so I don't know much about it. Anything half throttle or below and it just burbles along an it's not very crisp. But anything over half and it pulls like a freight train.

After I do some clutching, maybe it'll get better.

Thanks for the all replies so far guys!:beer;:beer; Well it seems that if you are willing to spend a little time to get the tune right , the twins pay off.

When thinking about what people are saying, that the power being more towards the top end at WOT, isn't that what the guys who do highmarking what their power to be? I'm sure when going up the side of a mountain your not at half throttle playing in the mid range power. Just seems to me that the twins should be more popular, especially in the highmarking crowd.

But I'm happy to hear that the twins arent a waist of money as long as you spend the time getting them dialed in. Anybody have some general box settings & clutching that they want to share for a starting point for us just getting into the twins? I'm thinking if we pool our knoledge on setups for twins, we can make them more popular and take advantage of what these engines will do.

The singles are so popular due to the ease of tuning but I'm thinking with with less gains. It seems more people these days want to put hardly any effort into tuning and more it to bolt on and go parts without achieving the full potential of their sled. But there are still the people out there that are borderline crazy with how much they spend on their sleds. lol:D So I guess it goes both ways.

I love my SLP twins even though on a carbed sled, it took me about 3 rides to get em dialed in and since then i haven't touched the settings and love the way it runs. Its a truely a pull and go sled and we ride everything.

twins are getting less popular because turbos are now in major play, and like said before people dont want the hassle of getting a sled dialed in.
