Who's got the best back pack ?

I have been looking at packs for the last few weeks too.

Horizontal board carry is a plus, and almost a must for me becuase I would like to start bringing my board on some trips this year.

It looks like its a toss-up between the Ogio and Dakine packs.

I want something with wide, comfritable shoulder straps. I just picked up an Etnies pack a few weeks ago, it sucks, my shoulders are killing me by the end of the ride and it doesnt have a waste strap so bounces all over the places.

I need something that will carry my shovel, 35+ft of roap, extra gloves, food and a few survival stuff (fire starter sticks, flash light, etc.)

edit: Just ordered the Ogio pack, you can get it here Ogio Three 6 for $49.90, it says they only have 1 in stock but I called them, they have 8 and 2 on the way I guess.

Another vote for the Dakine Pro II, great pack so far, kept everything dry, holds alot, very comfortable, and I only paid $35 bucks.

Only thing that annoys me with my Ogio Three6 is that there is no latching buckle on the strap that's supposed to keep a shovel blade in place. In my case, the strap is too short to fit over a Voile shovel blade so I have to use a piece of heavy elastic to keep it in.

Crap, I hope it fits over my Ortovox Grizzly 2(best shovel ever made).

Does the TNA Storm have a internal frame?/QUOTE]

Jason,
No, it does not. It does however have the best suspension system I've ever worn. It also has a nice waist belt with movable (slightly) pockets for quick at hand things.
I don't know what my pack weighs (I'm afraid to know) but my Wife picked it up once and gave me THAT look, and said (not for the first time) "YOUR NUTS!" and I wear it all day in comfort. I don't even take it off while we are eating lunch.
Another nice feature of the pack is the quick detach shoulder straps if you need to get it off in a hurry. (or after an injury).
It is water bladder compatable and has a slick attachment for your shovel handle, and a choice of two ways to stow your shovel blade.
If that's you in your avatar, you look like a big guy, me too, and I wear a BWear and the pack adjusts to fit me with or with out the vest.
I'm very picky about my gear. (shhussh I'm one of those nuts that ride alone) and I'm very pleased with this pack.

Bagger,

Thanks for the information, Thats me in the avatar. I wear a tek vest as well, most the packs I try on seam small. I think I going to try one of the storm packs.

Thanx for the replies, I am looking for the TNA Storm and the Dakine. The Dakine gloves are the best gloves I have had as far as comfort and warmth but they fell apart at the seams in less than 1 year so I hope the pack is tougher than that.

I use the Ogio Flak Jacket. Its actually a vest with many pockets. It keeps the weight spread out over the front and the back. Has the setup to pack a snowboard on back and a bladder and shovel compartment. The pockets arn't too big but definatly usefull space what storage that is there. I use it in the summer for dirt bike riding too.

Does the OGIO three 6 hold thw shovel inside the main compartment or is it outside on the back? Also, does it have a strap inside or outside for a probe and shovel handle?
Thanks.

packs

why would you buy a product from a company that cant make a glove last more than a year. i have had gloves last for years. as far as backpacks i like back country access/stash packs, with internal h20 bladders and a thermal sleeve so bite valve wont freeze

I didn't say I was going to buy from a company that gloves don't last a year... I will look at their packs as it appears there are some good reviews on them.
