Who's brave enough to ride with no helmet?

It does amaze me that people out there ride without helmets. There was a guy out here in colorado killed snowmobiling last year, guess he had a ski helmet on rather than a real one. Way to be.

Only time I don't wear mine is when i'm loading/unloading, and even then I probably should. I don't ride without helmet, tekvest, and knee guards; but personally the tekvest is my #1 piece of equipment. Surprises me that more people don't wear them.

well said mule. same with me. always wear my chestprotector and helmet. dont have any knee guard yet but im probly going to get some before this summer for fourwheeler riding.

out here it's called "thinning the herd"... Lot's of clean "one owner's" sold that way! Even 600+ inches of snow hurts you sometimes!

My point is there is no way I could even appear to come down on the side that choice is more important than wearing one. Entertainment or not. My thread is not BS I lived thru that hell and I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I dont fish I dont bait 99% of the peeps I jaw with are friends people I have met. I am 100% serious on this. Im sorry if Im am ruining the latest fun thread. This will be the last time I hite it, or open it. I got no hard feelings with anyone go ahead and have fun with it Im out.

I always ride with,BUT I dont care if someone else chooses not too.

Lots of bikers on the road without them.To me thats far more dangerous, its just not my business.

I hope no one ever runs into you? I wear mine mainly for the other peeps. I am usually incontroll of my actions. Its the other people I worry about. Good luck comas suck.

I wear mine all the time, sledding and dirt biking in the summer. Hot as hell, but I hit lots of branches, not to mention I do fall over sometimes!

Maf, "helmet while motorcycling" debate if we want also. No brainer, why not wear it. There's nothign cooler then brains coming outta your head. Course I work in the x-ray and get chit for dirt biking...and have co-workers(the chit givers) who hop on the street bike with no helmet or leathers.

As long as youre an organ doner go for it. I'm not going to waste a day of riding peeling you off a tree and lots of smart people need organs. And for you Darwins out there that dont wear a helmet, dont have kids because stupid is in your blood.

I agree with your point of view.
However your method of putting it out there is so wrong!
Do you think you will sway anyone who is sitting on the fence by talking down to them?

Lots of opinions voiced in this thread, and you know what?
They are all correct!
No laws were broken from any snowmobiler riding without a lid, so what makes any of you think that imosing your will on others is more important than any law?

My message (if you have failed to grasp it yet) is consider, respect & tolerate others opinions & views.

Kind of thinking about this one. I'm sure all our parents loved us just as we would our own kids and with that we didn't wear helmets. It's society, not the protection they give when it comes to bicycles and skateboards and so on. I don't want to sound like a heathen but seeing how were trying to keep our kids in a protective bubble these days is getting out of control. Bumps and bruises alert kids that doing things wrong will hurt them, this way they are prepared for the bumps and bruises in life. Just look at how many kids now days don't play dodge ball because of someone thinking they are going to get injured.

Sorry, it's just my thoughts. If it's motorized and the slighest bit powerfull a helmet should be worn. (Golf carts, mopeds, and segways are the exception)

I'm off the soap box now. If I have kids I'm sure some of this will come back to haunt me.

RJ,
These are great points and I agree. Kids need to learn to be tough, they need to get a few bumps and bruses to learn.

Also, I didn't mean to imply that others dont love there kids. I know we all do. We all want whats best for them. I guess I was just thinking out loud.

What do I think of people who ride without protection? I'll keep my opinion to myself on that one, but it does feel better without a rubber. SO...

On a serious note, I will say that the MAJORITY of the times I have crashed or been hurt have been when I was "just playing" or "taking it easy" When I ride hard and try challenging things I am much better prepared... Both physically and mentally.

Doesn't matter whether its a rocky mountain, or a powder meadow... Unkonown hazards exist in both conditions.

Can't understand why you wouldn't, but it ain't my place to tell you you have to or call someone an idiot if they don't. I'll just wear mine when I ride thanks.
