Who's brave enough to ride with no helmet?

I ride without one, :) Learn to ride responsibly and don't be stupid. Only way I see that a helmet would save your noggin is riding on ice.

WOW!!! I've never met anyone who's perfect........ May I have your autograph?

Or how about when you roll it and that handlebar goes through your ear. It's stupid, you can get a good one for $150. Don't be a tightwad!!! Gawd what a retard want-a-be.

The helmet debate is a no win battle on the forums.

I wear a helmet when riding something of substance. (motorcycle, atv, sled) One reason is speed, the others are outside influence of other riders, protection from the elements again because you are at speed etc. I on the other hand don't wear one riding a pedal bike and personal opinion I don't think it's really necessary for children to wear them either. Sure it's traggic if something happens and I'm sure I would change my tune if it were my children but 99.9% if not 100% on this forum grew up not wearing helmets on our pedal bikes and were all still here. Maybe there is something to be learned from that?

sure you should wear a helmet highmarking but where do you draw the line.
if you go over 10 mph, your an idiot?no airbag...idiot?the safest place in sitting home on your couch.

I'm with Veedy on the TekVest thing---hit a creek and smashed my ribs, that's why I'm on the key board instead of riding. TekVest before the next ride.

Helmets wear out and need to have their liners replaced as the foam hardens up with age---my wife wore an old helmet and refused to replace it 'cause she liked the color. Fell off her dirt bike, suffered a severe concussion, got a chopper ride out--cost $2,700. New helmet=$200, go figure:rolleyes:

Who cares what Harley riders do? No helmets, loud pipes, no front brakes, DUHHHH:eek:

I knew a guy a few years ago who died from not wearing a helmet. His little brother forgot his, so he let the little brother wear his helmet. Half way through the day he was riding throught this dranage and there was a little drop at the bottom. Sled bucked him off and he landed on a rock. He stood up, said he was OK. 15 minutes lator he said his head hurt, fell over and was dead.

I didn't wear a helmet on my bycicle when I was a kid, but I make my kids wear a helmet and pads when they ride their bikes. I love them to much to have something happen to them and I dont know if I could live with myself if I lost one of them and I could have prevented it.

Whether it be bicycles, motorcycles, snowmobiles or whatever.....
Without question, a helmet is a good idea.
There can be no debate there. end of story.

But I get fed up with those of you who look down upon others who do not make the same choices as you.
Get over yourselves. You don't impress others as much as you impress yourselves.

Judging by the marks on my helmet I think it's a pretty bad idea not to have one on!

^^^^^^^^^^My thoughts exactly. Just this year i was riding in an open meadow in three feet of powder. How could you possibly get hurt in that right? Well leaned over a little too far one way and got flipped around by the snow and slammed my head right into the running boards, broke off my visor and scratched up the helmet real good. my running boards are pretty sharp, i don't think i would have looked to pretty afterwards if i weren't wearing a helmet. But instead all i lost was a visor and it was worth it.

It's also selfish to your family, friends, etc to not take every precaution to make sure you can make it home each night. Honestly, I don't give a rat's azz what someone else does...I'm just trying to figure out the rationale behind it.

i hit a rock riden down the ditches i flew 105 ft i never seen the rock two guys infront of me never seen it eaither i can just imagine what it would have done if i didnt have a helemt on it was new that day infact. we never ride with out dont see why you wouldnt !!! just plain stupid

Ridiculous...I wear my helmet in the summer when it is over 100 degrees. I have seen several accidents over the years when a helmet saved my life and others around me. No excuse not to wear one...just stupid.

**** happens, my helmet has lots of knicks and dings and me hitting into stuff and i'm sure glad I always wear it, stupid not to. If I seen people riding on a real bad slope without avalanche equipment and were all in the runout etc, I wouldn't even think of going to help them if something happened, ride without avalanche gear and ride like a idiot and I hope you get buried. It's a less chance of the idiot triggering a avalanche and hurting/killing someone who rides smart.

Before you guys jump all over Marv you might look at the miles he logs. he rides more miles in a year than most western riders ride in 10 years. I hear everyone so happy with themselves for wearing helmets( I wear mine it has alot of dings) just think that if your doing things like flying 150 ft, or putting gashes in your helmets, breaking stuff with your tekvest you might not outlive a guy that rides less extreme without protection. just a thought.

PS Stupid Hurts

I guess if that is the way you justify it to yourself...like someone said, it is your noggin!!! What about trees, rocks, other sleds. I have seen people explode belts and go over the bars and smash there face off of the hood and front bumper. It is a free world though. (kinda)

You are riding on snow for crying out loud, not a fricken road or solid ground and rocks with a bike. To each their own. Glad I won't ride near most of you guys that are paranoid all the time.
I wear my seatbelt when in a car/truck all the time when I'm in one, usually in a different town as there are no roads here. We grew up on sleds riding all winter long, not only on weekends in one bowl like the rest of you, if you only had a clue. And yes, natural selection takes it course. You'll see more deaths around urban areas where you guys live and ride then you will see in more rural areas like where I live and in Canada where there are others that ride all the time.

newbies who cant control there sled should allways wear a helmet from the time they leave there house.LOL.

What about strapping your helmet?? Need a thread about that again :beer;:p

Not wearing a helmet is dumb but to each their own :eek:
