There is/has been a lot of complaining. This is true.
As a small business owner, I would welcome my existing customers complaints.
That right there is an opportunity for improvement.
You guys act like complainers should simply go away.
That is why you would never make it as business operators.
With your mentality....If someone doesn't like govt. run health care, they should just shut up & accept it. After all whiners are just trouble makers.

First off, any of the criticism that I have given has been in regards to many of the changes this site has received in the recent months.
I have not "whined" about it becoming a pay to play site.

Back to the topic. I left but then I look back that I have been with this site since probably 1997ish. At that time I was also on Amsnow and watched them do the same thing SW is doing now. I paid for the first year over there and while most all the trash talkers left, so did virtually all the knowledge after a few months. (I recall Big AL was a major contributor and I think he stopped posting after a few months and went elsewhere) Where you could get an answer for ideas in minutes, turned into days and weeks. If you look at their forum now it is dropped from any section filling 3-5 pages of posts a day to maybe 1 or 2 posts a day.
What has me upset is that there is a site already out there that shows us what is in store for the future of SW forum. I believe at the time AMSnow had far more members than SW until they started charging for the forum (even though you got a subscription with it for $20 a year). And just like the AMSnow mods, the SW mods and some senior members just put the blinders on and tell everyone that the Titanic is unsinkable and return to the bar.
Monetary value is moot, it's the principle that someone is charging for information that is free elsewhere that has got people chapped. Someone has the idea that people are so loyal to SW because of how long they have been here are in for a rude awakening in about a year when the first round of people who pay for the first year, do not renew.
AMSnow was great in the day with inside scoops, a ton of members and posts and they were in the same belief that they were going in a better direction. I don't know if it helped the publishing side but it killed the so called "better forum".
I'll keep my SW membership and lurk a bit more and watch it dwindle to a trickle. In turn I will probably spend more time on Arcticchat, hardcore, BCR and junkie until one of them evolves into the next main site.

I suppose we all can take somebody's comments a bit to seriously. I'll admit my comment was a bit over the top, but none the less I still feel this is a great site. I'll also agree with some there's a few things that need fixed, but I really don't think the way some are acting, is going to make SW want to just run out and bend over backwards to accomodate them. Hope everybody has a fun, safe year tearing up some snow this year................

You say that like it's a long time. I recall SW dies down in Mid to late April and doesn't really pickup again until Sept or October. I think by late November early December we'll have a clear cut idea if people intend to renew or not. If the site does meet expectations I would expect about an 85% retention rate. If it does not however I would only expect maybe a 25-30% retention for renewals. I estimate these figures from my 12 years customer service experience in various industries. I would like to see SW the site it has been over the years, but I find it highly unlikely.
