Who here uses a sled jack?

I've said it before and I'll say it again the ones who say the jack is silly are the same ones sitting on their arse waiting for someone to circle back around to them and their buried sled with one.... I think I'm going to start charging..

Pulled t-posts with mine this summer :). Hey with that new copycat jack there's one for every pocketbook range now! Nice touch with the aluminum for the metal lovers!

Jacked Up

man those things are gay.....****in grow a sack and lift somin ya dang sally:face-icon-small-hap

anyone?

I was not a big fan of Wild Bills snow jack at first , hell we rode for years without one. We like to ride deep snow in the tree's with 4 or 5 riders, taken turns breakin trail. We are going to get stuck. When all riders have jack we just go on by the leader, when he gets stuck, He can jack himself out get in track and catch up. This works better than going back. We can get to our destination quicker and ride more powder.

The snow jack is a tool, some people just never figure out how to use tools :D

Come ride with us anytime we like :beer;

Must admit I'm a Sally, too. Especially when my teenager gets in the "i can do anything" mode, gets stuck every 1/2 hour, and can't remember to get off the dam* gas.

Doesn't get in the way if you mount it right (old pic).

It weighs the same as the high jacker, it started out life as a modular unit broke down into three pieces and fit in a back pack. problem was when the weight hit the rod it was like the fittings were welded together. you couldn't get it apart without a couple of pipe wrenches.

He sold a 12ft'r last year, two guys last year one had dumped his sled in the creek up near Taylor somewhere and needed the added length to lift the sled up to were they could get a tow strap to it. He had pictures in his shop at one time showing the sled hanging about 8ft in the air with the two guys jacking the handle with ropes (one at the top to rest the handle one to pull the handle down)

12', bet that was a sight. I like the break down/add links concept. Did he get it to work and not jam up? A kind of slip joint or sleeve system might work. I ride a sofa so no problem with the ~6' pole. Interesting that all these guys are operating out of CO.

I went in a 6ft tree well once, came back the next day with block and tackle to winch myself out. Had I another 3 ft of jack I could have jacked it out in 10 mins. (Digging is for gophers):D

He has experimented with drilling holes in the shaft sections an inch or 2 up from the threads that a small rod can be put in to use as a T handle. the shaft needs to remain the same dia for the jack to work a sleeve wouldn't allow for this. He tried the slip joint and the which ever piece ended up being the female always tore out the side when the tool was racked or stress to thatside.

Interesting that all these guys are operating out of CO.

Heck they are operating in the same 30mile radius

one of the dealers hear will not sell the High Jacker only the Snowjack

Steve sells a lot of them on ebay and quite a few in Canada a few hundred units last year which was his first full year of production.

My Jack is the third most important thing that I make sure I have when I go riding. Right after my beacon and clean shorts:D Its saved mine and my buddies a$$es many times!...........So I guess just call me sally too;)

I always carry one of these when I ride the YamiHog....
Works well, saved my life a few times. Good for oil changes too.

Someone in Salida is working on making a knock-off of it I hear.
Kind of frustrating.

I thought Matt was third, and I was most important, Now there's a sally :D

I don't think Bill will ever approve

logger

i have a 4 stroke so i have one :)

Disclaimer: I am old, fat and out of shape also

And we used it plenty last season and the year before when that dude stuck his old REV in a hole.

Well, I lifted a Mexican a few minutes ago... heck I even THREW him off of one of our jobs. I must be strong! (says the guy sitting at his desk now eating a snack...)

Does that count?

So you are hiring now?;) No habla Espanol though

i think the heaviest thing i picked up all week is my $5 sandwich from subway.

Not me, I just peed.

I'm seriously thinking about one because of my back issues. I'm gonna go the route that Bushy took though and buy the knock off.

I'll start out by saying I'm neither fat nor old(27 and 155lbs) and I won't go riding without my Bill Harmon highlift jack. The jack isn't for EVERYONE. Some people really don't need it. I was one of the biggest skeptics out there for a long time. Then I started seeing just how useful it can be and how much energy it can save. Doesn't just save energy for the person that's stuck, but also everyone else riding with that person. I still get unstuck with help of others or roll my sled on a regular basis but the jack has truly enhanced my riding experience. Mine's mounted level with the top of my tunnel and I've never had a footing or comfort problem with it. When I do a big jump or cliff drop I usually take it off. Although, there's one cliff I like to drop that the jack is a must(logger and arcticman know what I'm talking about). Without the jack on that particular drop, I would need the help of 2 or 3 others to help get the sled to the top. But not with the jack:) There are a lot of haters out there and people that just like giving others crap, not that there's anything wrong with that. Until I figure out a way to never get stuck, I'll take my jack.
