Who has trouble finding a place to stay in Revy

Are you east or west of Revy??

I like your thinking. If you stay in the same price range of what a hotel costs for say 2 or 3 rooms a night for a cabin that will sleep 6, you will probabley do well. The word should spread with in a season or so. So figure that into your outlay of monies. I like the idea of cooking my own when in a cabin like that--I do it almost every weekend up at Powderboy's cabin.

The drying room is a great idea--it will save the rest of the cabin from mosture problems. A smaller cabin might not be bad as well--I myself do not always travel in large groups--but 2 or 3 riders is a good size for our group alot. Hot tub--AWESOME--When I travel to sled--This is a MUST!!

Good luck!!

fuel on site sounds great to everyone, but in reality it's a pretty risky move even with the small tank. I would think that could be something you could bring on later if you got it going to see if it would be worth the effort.

the ramp would be pretty cool but also could rub some people the wrong way too. I and other people would see it as entertainment while others could see it as a disruption to their nice quite evening recouping for the next day of riding. there again that is something you could ask your guests if it would be cool, bothersome, or not really care. But i think most guests that would stay there would probably be all over it.

those would be really two small points to hack out if the time ever came.

wow thanks for the info everyone. Yes I do undearstand the peice and quit thing and i would respect the people that want that and I am always willing to hit a ramp to keep things fun. i really know that the fuel is a ???? i am not far from great riding. The way i am thinking is built it they will come once they see. I just know that the two trips a year that i leave revy a year i like a little night life. Thank you all for your input

Hey all I am trying to get some feed back on an idea for my property. I have 14 acre place about 25 km from Revelstoke an i am thinking of putting up two cabins on it to rent out. I would build them to sleep six or more per cabin. I would build it so it was easy to move the big trailers around as well as a hot tub. there would be a shop that every one could use to work on there sled and was thinking about providing fuel as well. i have 5 good riding areas around from 5 to 15 kms away from my place. Each cabin would be fully furnished with stove washer dryer ect... good drying rooms for all the gear. the sky line truck stop is about 10 kms away would be the closest place to eat if you didn't feel like cooking the Great white north is 20 kms away. I also thought about putting up a place to store sled trailers and sled for the guys that travel from far away place through the season. I am looking for what ever feed back that you got thanks for your time.

I think its a good idea you have going. I think it would be better to have 1 big cabin and 2 smaller ones. The shop idea is awsome but would you have tools and such in the shop. If you do then people might steal them. The ramp idea sounds good but might draw away possible people that are just staying there that dont snowmobile. Also the fuel idea, what happens if somebody wants the cheap fuel compared to race gas. What about desiel for the pick ups. I think in the end you might be coming out breaking even if just that. But if you want to put all that money and time in it then I am all for it. It sounds like an awsome deal and good luck to you. Also love the idea of having something to park the trailers under. Have yet to see that any where and that sounds like an awsome idea.

yes hows 200 for an older rev 800 a day sound. it is tucked away there is no way some one could see your rig from the hiway I also plan on setting up a ramp for me and a couple of my buddies to practice on in the early evening if people were intrested in watching us practice that silly ****. i just want to creat a supper cool sled scene for people to hang out at. I want to put a big screen in the shop whith a little bar. i would like to know what people are willing to pay for somthing like that. you know per head a night. i don't need to get rich but I do not want to go broke.

Been in business for 30+ years and this is what I've learned.

1. Draw up a business plan and have very experienced buisness people look it over. Talk to experienced business person who has gone bankrupt, they will tell you what to watch out for as they already know!!!
2. Look at how many others are renting sleds in the area, Can you compete? When your rental sleds break down who will fix them and do you have $$ set aside for that.
3. If you are going to repair your own rental sleds will this be done before or after you are on your practice ramp? Or will it be while you are running the bar or selling the fuel you have onsite?
4. Are you always going to be there to do all these thing or are you going to want to go riding sometime? If you go riding who will watch your fuel tank, your bar, your big screen TV, your other rental sleds, and the storage area that keeps the trailers you charge others to store there. If you hire staff to help you with all this work where will the $$$ come from to pay them?

You have a good idea and it's great to get feedback from sledders on what they want. But you need a serious business plan and some experience to help you get started. Pick when you want to finish your progect and work backwards from there. It will take 2 to 3 months longer than you budget for.

so you would not mind the idea of being 25 kms out side of town with more of a home sort of feel to it? if you do not mind me asking how much would you be paying per head now a day. I know this price will continue to rise. My goal is to get a group of people that like the scene and keep them coming back. does it bother you to be 10 kms away from a resturant. do you like the idea of saving money by cooking at home? how many trips a year do you make out to Revy?

I'd be interested. I could care less if I was near "the scene" in town. I try to get to Revy 10+ times per season....usually 3 to 4 guys in the group. As long as there's a couch, fridge, micronuker, stove, and a TV.....we're all content.

thanks all for the info I am west of Revy. I was just wonder about the distance to such a facility if there would be enogh intrest. with the few logistics example like fuel. I have been sledding for 8 years out here and I think that most of the people are pretty honest so I just want to make people feel like I do when I get home there is a placed to cook a place to work on my sled and there is some one to hang with and have a beer before the next crazy day. I use to do the travel thing from work to Revy sleep in a hotel for a week then back to work.
