Who crashed north of twenty mile?

Glad everyone is OK! Its a good reality check for all of us!
I've heard of several people hitting the ditch and saying they should have been in 4wd. Just curious what most manufactures say is a safe (mechanical) speed to run in 4wd? I have a 2500 Duramax and I belief the manual says 50 mph (not positive).

If the roads are slick I'm in 4wd Up to around 65 . If I hit a dry section I go back into 2wd . Hubs stay locked in all winter .

I have NEVER seen anything bad come of leaving a truck in 4wd at high speeds. I did once break the transfer case chain on my old T100 for going into 4wd at to fast of a speed though.

Anytime I tow in marginal conditions the truck stays in 4wd, i've had it up to 65 with no problems whatsoever. Read your trucks owners manual and it will tell you the recommended speeds for switching from 2wd to 4wd.

Glad you guys are ok, sleds and vehicles can be replaced, lives cannot.

I'm glad you boys are ok, and especially glad the sled were not hurt!;)

FYI, I just called Allstate and dropped full coverage on my 01 25' Hall Mark enclosed with $100 collision and $100 comp for $320 per year!

Sorry for your loss Cory....looks like you'll be catching a ride with me when I get to town!:beer;

Thats a good buy. the insurance really is to cheap not to have

As far speed in 4wd goes, when dragging a deisel you are always in 4-hi with speeds over 100mph with extreme loads on everything. I think its best just to leave in untill you feel the road is good. Just my .02!!

Insurance

If you go through country companies if you have your sleds and trailer insured through them you get a multi rate discount. All my vehicals, sleds, and trailer is insured through them and it's not bad don't know the details to a T but its less than 800.00 a year for the trailer and 4 sleds.

As its been said a time or two already, :beer; Glad you guys are alright! Never met you yet, and I am happy to still have the chance. Even happier to hear so many good folks will still stop and make sure a complete stranger is ok!

So, everyone walked away, that's good, no innocents that is better.

Would the sleds have fared any better if they had been strapped down?

Unstrapped sleds in an enclosed trailer aren't as bad of an idea as, say a sled propped up on a closed tail gate with no strap, but as I see now, they can be a close second.

Straps might even keep something as simple as an expensive a$$ Fox Float from getting the shaft scratched, Ouch and $$$$$$, that could be saved so simply.

Cheers to luck, and seatbelts.

actually i don't think having them tied down would have helped at all. in fact i think they might have been worse. i don't think they would have stayed tied down during the roll and i think when they came loose it could been even more violent. but you never know.

thanks dave, yeahi might need that ride... how about that extra sled too... my steering post is bent and i think i'm going to have to pull the motor to get to the lower bolts. and the mod sled is still sitting on its chassis. they snow has just been too good not to ride when i have had the chance to get away. although now i should be able to find a few more minutes to wrench...

Dont worry, you arent missing out on much, lol! I am very relieved you two made out. Dont know what I would do if I didnt have CJ's sled to crash into or have Corey to lift my sled off me when i am doing an impromptu inspection of my exhaust outlet with my sled on my chest in the middle of nowhere.
