Where to stay in Vegas

We are going to Vegas in October to scout out our wedding sites, and to go to the Las Vegas Nationals NHRA event. So we're looking for reasonable accommodation's close to the strip. So I'm looking for suggestions, we don't need a resort just a nice room. Thanks guys

planet hollywood is the place to be.i always stay at the jockey club since my bud has a bunch of timeshares, but if i didn't have that hookup ph is where i would stay.hard rock has a sweet pool but is a ways off the strip.ph is always good about comping drinks if your gambling.

We stayed at the T.I. It was nice, but there is nicer out there. Disadvantage is that its on the far side of the strip.

The Orleans has always treated us well. Reasonable room rates, 5 minutes from the strip, 10 or 12 places to eat, Good mix of locals and visitors. Theres an arena attached with a ECHL hockey team, I've caught a couple of games there.
The table lmitis on the strip have driven me away. I can't afford 15 dollar minum bets and not get annoyed when I lose.

Check out the Monte Carlo the last time we went. It is right on the strip...centrally located. The hotel was very nice and we got rooms for $119 a night. Shop around online.

I got married in Vegas in 1999. Hard to believe we are coming up on 10 years already.

i've stayed at mirage, treasure island, and mandalay bay. i would stay at madalay bay for your wedding if i were you. las vegas trip reports are fun to read and informative. this spring we got in a night early and stayed at the super 8 1 block behind the mgm, for a reasonable price, for a saturday night. most of the hotels post price right web site.

Stayed at NYNy, Luxor, monte carlo, TI, and MGM. Liked MGM the best, monte is nice, NyNy is nice rooms are average, same with TI, luxor room I had was a little rundown.

Hard Rock! hands down. Best eye candy of any casino I've been in. Sweet beach/pool (where you can gamble out in the island) and good music all day/all night. Just be prepared to see high table limits at night.

Staying on good part of the strip (NYNY, Belagio, Mandalay Bay, etc) is nice, but like others have said, the rooms are no better.

I stay at The Orleans for 1/3 the cost and if I go to the strip, it's a $7 cab ride to NYNY and can walk from there. And The Orleans has nice (decent, not a dump but not fancy either), big rooms.

I've only been there once (Feb. 08) but will be back in a week....Yes, I agree the large hotels with fancy rooms are still just a bed and a $hitter, but I like the convenience, and the crowd isn't a sketchy....However, where we are staying during the day, the lobby is FULL of tourists checking it out, so kinda packed........What is the best game to gamble at that is might be possible to make even $50? I play online poker, but I suck at it so scared to put up the money and lose it....!

Not slot machines! Think there would be hundreds in casinos if you could actually win on them? :face-icon-small-win

Many casino's have limit poker games. $20-$50 buy in and $2-$4 limits.

I play $1-$2 no limit w/ a max buy-in of $200 (keeps people from buying in for $2000 and going all in every hand). But I like to sit for 5-6 hrs at a time so I have patience (tell my wife that ).

Cheap rooms and good location at the flamingo. We stayed at the Golden Nugget in old town last year. I thought I would hate it, but had way more fun out there than I did on the strip. It doesn't have the constant throngs of people and it is a more down to earth crowd.

Been going for years, for conventions. Usually stay at the Sahara. The rooms are great. The casino is older and aging, BUT, the price of the rooms along with the fact that it is on the monorail line makes it a steal.

We usually pay 50-60 a night. So it's a monorail ride to where you want to go..big deal. Most the main casinos are too.

We don't eat there; we don't gamble there. But can't beat the rooms. Compare them to a regular Best Western, probably a notch down from a Holiday Express. And dated, but not obnoxiously so.
