Where to ride near Co Springs?

I usually ride the snowies three times a year one trip being right after Christmas. This year the family has decided to do a family trip to the springs to see some family we have out there. I can't give up this great opportunity to get a couple days of riding in so I'm looking for some advice. Where is a good place to ride decently close to the springs that I can ride and be back everyday? Any help would be appreciated guys :face-icon-small-coo

The only places that are within driving distance everyday that are decent riding terrian is Buena Vista, Vail pass (gotta pay for parking) or rabbit ears but there all 2 1/2 to 31/2 hr drives like skibreeze said. When you coming? I maybe could link up with you and go for a ride one day.

You definitely want to go to cottonwood pass out side of Buena vista if they would get some snow. It has the shortest drive from springs and some really great riding areas. The area is massive with pick your poison riding and cAn be done as a day ride. Depending on when you come out and the snow I may be able to show you around. Let me know.

Ophir Creek near Bishops Castle is only about an hour from the springs, but does not always have snow.

Right now I dont think either ophir creek or cottonwood have enought snow. I'm trying to get some info on cottonwood but no one has responded. I was at marshall pass by salida last week and their was snow but it was only above 9500 feet. We where on atv's and their was about 20" in some spots and then you find the common bare spots in the sun and wind.

Thanks for the info guys. It would be great for one of you to show me around since I havent rode any of these areas. I'll be in touch. Thanks again.
